..by consenting to send (usualy too large for one's personal budget) amounts of money to these organizations!! [Razz] ...often at their repeated-repeated-REPEATED insistence!

Hey- many charges of "rape" often occur after-the-act, so maybe the analogy still applies. [Wink]

btw - the mafia no longer exists.

Ok, very good...now research the word synarchy.

This bill concerns 501c3 tax-exempt religious groups, not "us" as individual citizens...

"US" as individual citizens are often the ones who consent to be financially raped by these silly, hysterical religious media organizations, admittedly, it must feel really good to some folks. [Roll Eyes] sheesh...go figure.

Don't you think the rapists-for-Jesus should have some accountability??

Take the DownsizeDC organization I mentioned above. They fit in the new requirements of this bill. It is not that they send money, but letters. If they refuse to follow the new regulations, then they get fined and told to stop. If they don't stop, men with guns will eventually come to stop them. This is wrong. This is bad. Any law that causes the initiation of force is a bad law.

Any law that regulates our interation with our representatives is bad. This law furthers existing regulations on how we interact with our representatives. A correct law would remove any regulations on how individuals and groups interact with our representatives, but forces our representatives to disclose what interactions and with whom they interact.

This bill is that bad. Groups of individuals should not have to fear government force if they don't jump through the right hoops to have influence over our representives. If we want transparancy and accountability, make the elected officials be responsible for making public all influence they recieve. If they don't comply then remove them from office. Private organizations should not fear the government, government officials should be the ones in fear of losing there jobs for not following the rules. Its funny how government looks to restrict our freedoms rather than restricting their own to solve a problem.

But I won't do that,I don't have the time.

PLUS, the realality(huh?) of God is not the topic at hand. [Big Grin]

So in other words...what I'm kind of getting from you....sign the ACLJ promotional petition- OR ELSE!! "Your soul(identity?)is at stake"!! You will have to account before God for not supporting the ACLJ!! Promotional items, publications, and petitions, distributed by the ACLJ are ETERNAL!!!

No! I agree with you totally - the bill itself is not so bad at all!! [Kiss] It creates and encourages accountability to what in some cases, are questionable, shoddy, money-grubbing propaganda outlets, that accomplish nothing.

As far as "who's side I'm on" - I'm not even involved in the case, and personally would not even bother signing the petition for reasons previously posted. [Smile]

Yes -I've been on their website & have not been able to find ANY hard listing of actual decisions (case numbers, briefs, overviews) of legislation or substantial cases they have affected.

Everything seems to be a very cheap spin job, from a "boo-hoo! us poor Christians" perspective, usually on rather trivial k-12th grade public/private school issues...oh and with "abortion" and "sex-ed" & homeschooling rhetoric, thrown-in for entertainment value. [Roll Eyes]

btw - I did'nt really mean that Rush Limbaugh was a church spokesperson....

Hi, If you would like a list of the victories of the ACLJ please go to the " American center for law and justice web site."

Everyday the Bible is proven to be true. There is the rise in America,And the World of hatred for God and His standards.

And when I say God,I mean Jesus Christ. Jesus said you would know a man by his fruit.

I didn't know Rush Limbaugh had been declared speaker for the Church. I prefer to let Jesus speak on behalf of the True Church.

Back to the fruit of men,The Bible says " out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh."

It is easy to see what is in the heart of some. As a young girl said to Peter, " Thy speech betrayeth thee."

He went to the ACLU.

Here's the problem - could you please give a Cliff notes- style listing, or maybe a link as to what some of these "great victories" are??? I mean beyond just relatively petty local, symbolic issues [Roll Eyes]

Meaningful, substantial court decisions etc....something that say...would have affected the average person/citizen posting in this forum, for instance. State or Federal level.

..and what "church" is being represented in the battles (700 Club ministries?? Regency College?? "Pat Robertson Inc."???)

I'm QUITE VERY positive the hatred toward the ACLU is a result of the sizeable number of Jewish lawyers in that organization!! [Razz] [Big Grin] [Wink]

Thank God for the ACLJ, Through them God is Giving great victories in the relm of our Godless courts.

I know it hurts the heart of some to know that the Church is winning some of these battles,But to God be the Glory.

No matter what the courts decide,In the end,God will be victor,And there is nothing anyone can do about that.

Also,I am praying that the money given to groups like the alcu will dry up and put them out of business, They are against anything that pertains to God or Christians.

To God be the Glory. Art.

<LOL!> So this just sort of allows you to go back to sleep, and live your life on ideological autopilot.

Each Bill or issue needs to be examined individually.

Why would you place your trust in some biased National Socialist right-winger (no doubt) spin-cycle media group to decide, for you(!) what constitutes making government "larger" or "smaller"??

<LOL> I'm sure they get all the personal info they need, when you set up your "account" with them.

Come on, Do I sound like a national socialist to you? The site is libertarian, so its smaller government all around.

Anyway you pick the bills that are important to you. So if your apposed to this further regulation of our free speach you can pick this bill, just like if your against the fairness doctrine. But if you like say the minimum wage, then don't pick that one. They just do the leg work so its easier and more representatives get the message. Then its up to the rep to read it or trash it.

Check it out before yo knock it. You might find a possition you would like them to send a bunch of letters out for you.

..really what I think you're saying here is..."why not do what gives you a good feeling, and boosts your ego into thinking you have power to change 'big picture' issues in Washington?"

"Petitions" such as this one end up in office wastebaskets, and serve the only purpose of telling the ACLJ (a media-front publicity machine)..."golly...how many people (suckers?) are listening to us???"

as I posted on the other thread - Really, in the name of fairness - I would think it necessary to provide a link to the actual wording of the House Bill itself, rather than second hand, rhetorical spin interpretation from special interest media groups (such as the silly impotent ACLJ et al). [Wink]

I'm not even convinced the legislation is bad.

Many of these religious media outlets engage in fraud, disinformation, lying, and mis-reporting.

There needs to be accountability. [Wink]

You won't get any more spam than what other things you don on the net will get you. You won't get put on anymore mailing lists than what Wal-mart and other people SELL your information for. So why not try to make a difference for the good. I would rather take a chance trying than just sit back and if something like this would happen say, Man I wish that wouldn't have taken place, maybe I should have tried to do something about it. Too late...

Signing the petition will likely only increase the load of spam email you receive.

BE INFORMED- from what I've seen, the ACLJ is little more than a publicity extension of Pat Robberson's 700's Club & Regency University.

I'd like to see a recent (post-2003 let's say) listing of actual hard court cases they have won at anything above the local level, cuz last I heard they have accomplished very little, if nothing.

I'm sure they appreciate your personal information, tho! [Big Grin]

I signed the petition, and I hope the petition helps to stop what the government is trying to do, but the Truth of the matter is nothing the governments of this world do, can stop the True child of Yahweh from doing what is right in Yahweh’s sight.

A man of Yahweh can not be stopped by a Laws or decree of man…

Prayer was not taken out of public school by lawmakers; prayer had left the Church and homes long before it was taken out of the public schools. Just as Daniel, a praying person will pray no matter how ruthless, severe the penalty.

Those who remain faithful to the end shall be saved.

--------------------
Strive to enter in at the strait gate:for many, I say unto you will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. ( Luke 13:24 )

We as Christians need to take a stand to this. Sign the petition and stop it from hapening.
