Luke 3:16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
John 1:26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;
John 3:23 And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.
Acts 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
Acts 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

KeriLin22,
I would encourage you not to wory about undoing the baptism of John,
but,
to come into the fulness of the baptism with which Jesus baptizes.

May the LORD bless you and keep you
T7

I think baptism is also showing the world you ae Chrsitian and belive in God and Jesus as your saviour. You believe in the father, the son, the holy spirit (the trinity.)

You have accepted God and Jesus, and baptism shows it publically.

Also, Jesus was baptised, so I feel it is a way of sharing through him and living through him (like his blood and flesh in communion.)

God does exist. At times its hard to belive cause we suffer and see others suffer, this makes people doubt Him. But, he does exist.

You may also find i thelpful to contact and speak with a minister, biship, reverand etc too with questions. I would like to help more, but I am a new Christian, so I don't know.

You may also want to go to a church service. You will see the spirit in some people who are literally moved by this.

KeriLin,

Thank you very much for answering my question. May I please ask another question? Would you please be willing to share with us the reason why you feel that baptism is in the way of how you truly feel. I'd be very appreciative of hearing your reasons because I'd really like to have the opportunity to understand you and your beliefs.
Thank you lots, Keri, and God bless you!

If you haven't turned your back on God then why turn your back on things he stands for, even Jesus was baptised. Maybe I'm not following are you saying your belief says you can't do things Jesus did? Either you believe in Jesus or you don't but standing on the fence is a very dangerous place. If I was standing on the fence being lukewarm I'd be concerned about where my eternal life would be spent.
For your question, you can't be baptised unless you want it. Same with Jesus, you believe or you don't. For your eternal life I hope that you decide to really be baptised purely with God and it's a repore of washing away the old and putting on the new. Same as being born again, with the Holy Spirit. Some people only believe half the bible but infact, there is a vale in the firmement you have to accept the trinity, The Father the Son and The Holy Ghost to deny one is to deny them all. Your created in his God's image, 3 parts to just as there are three parts to God. Body soul spirit. God accepts you completely why wouldn't you give that back. I don't want an answer that's your business but a thought in your head now it stands.
In whatever belief, your still the temple of God, your physical body holds the Spirit of God and that's what your accepting into your life. I wish you luck in your journey and that your eyes be clearly opened by the hands of God.

Baptism is obedience to God. Jesus, Himself, was baptisized. Why would it be a problem for you at this point in your life? Have you prayed and asked God to show what you are seeking?

KeriLin22,

Hi and thanks for answering my questions - I really appreciate it a lot. I want to say I feel a lot of empathy and compassion for you because you've been through a lot.

Why do you think that you need to become unbaptized in order to become the kind of person that you want to be? Were you baptized by immersion in water? I don't know anything at all about First Assembly or their beliefs. Perhaps you could share with us what their beliefs are if you wouldn't mind to do so.

In answer to your question as to why it seems like a big deal to be unbaptized I personally feel that is turning one's back on God and that is something that no one wants to do. God is our only hope in this world and He is our help 24/7.
I also believe that God led you here to this board to seek answers and to reach out for help.
So any questions you may have please just ask - we all are here to be of help to you in any way possible. God bless you!

okie dokie. i was baptized in calgary, ab, canada. at a church called first assembly. i did belive strongly in god at the time. i was baptized by a man, my pastor. since this time i have been married, gotten pregnant, been widowed, had a beautiful daughter and lost my faith. i feel as though to become the person i need to be i must be unbaptized. i just am curious as to why this seems to be such an offencive idea to so many people. why is this need seemingly so wrong to so many people?

If you give your salvation up, you are unbaptized. If you were not a Christian when you were baptized, it means nothing anyway. Being baptized is an act of obedience to God, but the act does not save a person.

KeriLin22,

I want to assure that most assuredly God not only exists He is very much alive and doing wonderfully!

You say you were baptized at age 13. If you don't mind sharing may I please ask how and where you baptized? Are you a born again believer in Jesus Christ? Why would you want to get unbaptized? I only ask these questions to try to get a better understanding of you and of what it is that you are truly trying to find out. It would be great if you wouldn't mind sharing by answering my questions. I believe you were lead to this BBS Board for a reason and we all are here to listen and also to help you in amy way possible. God bless you!
