Jesus said of the end times, as recorded in Luke 21:25, "And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;" I am reminded of this prophecy given us by our Lord and Savior as hurricane Emily, the strongest storm to form this early in the Atlantic season since record-keeping began in 1860, takes aim at Mexico.
Recently, we have seen more named sea storms emerge during the July portion of hurricane season than at any previous time in recorded history. We've seen Dennis come ashore in the United States and now Emily, another record breaker, looks to ravage Mexico - another reminder that the prophecies of the Bible are going to be fulfilled - and perfectly - demonstrating that our God is alive, on the throne, and in control!
Isaiah 46:9-10: Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
We learn in Matthew 5:18 God is attentive to the precise details of His Word. He is aware of every jot (the smallest of all details) and tittle (extremity, apex, point) within it. As such, it is safe for us to conclude we are going to continue to see a trend toward the seas becoming more violent leading up to the return of Jesus Christ.
While there are always going to be scoffers who will suggest everything is continuing just as it always has, it's clear to me, as I'm sure it is to many others, that the seas of our world are becoming increasingly violent.
The sea and the waves are roaring - another reminder that Jesus Christ is coming soon!
