I don't think Iraq is the Babylon that is spoken of in Revelation...That would be too easy...If what you were asking pertains to Revelation here's my take.
Revelation Chapter 17:5 "This title was written on her forehead:
MYSTERY
BABYLON THE GREAT
THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES
AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH."
If it were Babylon of Iraq it wouldn't be much of a mystery...
Do I think we are there with the purpose of rebuilding Babylon ? No.
Our government has said that were were there for WMD and to free the people of Iraq.
Others tell us, this includes the governments of many countries around the world that we are there for oil...
Whatever the reason may be, we may think we are there for a specific reason...Our own leaders or whoever is behind the invasion of Iraq may think they are there for their own reasons be it oil, WMD, or freedom....
I believe that we are there to ultimately serve God's purpose.
It's interesting that Iraq is right in between Iran and Israel..
With everything lining up in a prophetic way it seems that God will use our positioning to protect Israel...
The Bible says that Russia and Iran will invade Israel in the last days...
This is just my observation.
