Personally I do not believe that the "Set Apart" Israel is only the modern day Israelis....

I think the divisions of brothers will be reunited at some time...

So I agree that both sides, or all sides, are not necessarily ones we should "stand" with however to me, "standing" is not supporting what they do, just understanding that the Word says that God will have his time and judgement with them again, and that they nation Israel will return to him someday...

So my supporting them is not supporting what they do, just who they are and represent...

Does that make sense? I struggle with the same things, because they have certainly been guilty of atrocities themselves....Lining up slaightered men, women, and children in the streets to show off to their Palestinian enemies...

Blasitn rockets into refugee camps and hospitals, terrible stuff...

I do believe they will be repentent someday though, and they will, like others, have their masses who take the side of the enemy instead of choosing life....

Yes Favor Minded, I realize that there are bad people. When people in the U.S. who are in some sort of authoratative power do bad things, they are punished.

Israeli soldiers kill palestinian boys and girls and there is no punishment until human rights activists come and expose it.

there is a difference. I'm not arguing that israelis have bad people in their military ranks... i'm arguing that the Israeli government is prone to inaction in these matters, therefore making them dishonorable.

I also take into consideration everything that went on post-WWII in the region against the palestinian people. I care about the palestinian people when Israelis kill palestinians. But I also care about the israelis when palestinians kill israelis.

The problem in choosing a side here is that both parties have gone about this conflict in the most despicable ways, resorting to human rights abuse, terrorism and genocide. How one can stand with one and denounce the other is unfathomable because they're guilty of the same atrocities.

Case in point:

Israeli soldiers 'shoot boy for fun'

By Khalid Amayreh in the West Bank

Wednesday 08 December 2004, 16:12 Makka Time, 13:12 GMT

A group of Israeli soldiers serving in the Gaza Strip have reportedly admitted killing a 15-year-old Palestinian in Khan Yunus for sport.

According to the Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronoth, the incident took place in March when a group of newly graduated soldiers were on a hike near the town of Khan Yunus.

According to the report, an undisclosed number of Givati brigade soldiers shot and killed Khalid Sulaiman Mahdi while he was working with his father on their farm.

The boy's father, Sulaiman Mahdi, told the paper the killing was "just for the sake of it".

"Seven bullets pierced my son's head, so you can't talk here about a mistake or random gunfire. This was an act of direct and clear sharp shooting," he said.

"The area is wide open and contains nothing special. The only thing unusual was the shooting at us, which killed my son."

No threat

The father, Khalid, and two other sons were working in the family's field when the shooting occurred.

According to soldiers interviewed by Yediot Ahronoth, there were no operational purposes for the shooting and no justification, since the boy and his family posed no threat to the soldiers.

An Israeli army spokesman said the army had investigated the incident, but admitted that no arrests were made.

The spokesman refused to say why the soldiers concerned were not arrested or prosecuted.

Sulaiman Mahdi, who leads a simple farmer's life, said he did not plan to sue the Israeli army for his son's murder.

"I only hope the Israeli army takes care such a thing doesn't occur again. There are lots of children here who work with their parents and I hope Khalid will be the last casualty."

Frequent occurrence

According to human-rights groups operating in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation army has killed hundreds of Palestinian minors, often without justification, in the course of its incursions into Palestinian population centres.

The killing of innocent Palestinians by the Israeli army during the past four years has reached a worryingly frequent level, say the rights groups.

"I don't have the slightest doubt that it is a rampant phenomenon," says Basim Eid, a former field researcher for the Israeli human-rights group, BTselem and head of the East Jerusalem-based Palestinian Human Rights Monitoring Group.

"The Israeli army is no longer an army that abides by military ethics."

Show trials

In an interview with Aljazeera.net, Eid accused the Israeli army of "inspiring soldiers to commit these abominable acts of sheer murder".

"The army top brass has given every indication that soldiers who commit murder will be immune from serious prosecution, and even if they are prosecuted, it won't be a big deal."

Eid said investigations carried out by the army were only for show, and to appease international public opinion.

"I don't think they carry out genuine investigations in these killings," he said.

"They only put up a show and usually after the press and human-rights groups have exposed a given crime."

Last month, BTselem accused the Israeli army of covering up crimes against innocent Palestinians.

The army rejects the charges.

But why stand with some of the most unholy people in the world? The Israelis, as well as the Palestinians, have terrorists. The difference between the israelis and the palestinians, however, is that the Israeli brand of terrorism is supported by our government. We shouldn't be standing by these people until they show the world that they are worthy of our respect.

We support Israel because all other nations were created by an act of men, but Israel was created by an act of God! The Royal Land Grant that was given to Abraham and his seed through Isaac and Jacob with an everlasting and unconditional covenant. (Genesis 12:1-3, 13:14-18, 15:1-21, 17:4-8, 22:15-18, 26:1-5 and Psalm 89:28-37.)

Israel is the apple of God's eye and we must stand by Israel.

why would you want to stand with Israel? Or the palestinians for that matter?

Neither people, israelis or palestinians, are very honorable, or attractive in my eyes.

Why would you want to stand by one, and totally deny the other? Why not stand with both, and hope they can find some sort of peace. There was once peace between the two nations. What would be the point of eradicating one or the other? How would this solve problems?

In the Christian News Service - worthy news there is a news story titled Israeli Palestian Conflict.
Under that news story there is an opportunity for every one who wishes to do so to sign a petition giving your affirmation to stand by Israel. Then at a later date this particular petition will be sent to President Bush. Israel is the apple of God's eye and it is of the utmost importance to totally stand by Israel no matter what!
