Hungary is getting ready to hold a ballot on EU membership. It is now less than two weeks before its citizens decide on the crucial European referendum. The vote is expected to secure its place as a full EU member by 2004.
On 12 April, Hungarians will decide: "Do you agree that the Hungarian Republic should become a member of the European Union?"
As the preparation for the vote gains pace, two million brochures as part of the "Yes" campaign are already being delivered to households all around the country. After Malta and Slovenia, Hungary is the third country to hold a referendum on EU entry and will decide its fate based on a number of key areas.
Opinion polls have found Hungarians to be most concerned about social security, the situation of pensioners, the future of the national currency, changes in the system of taxation and employment in the EU.
The brochure campaign is run by the European Union Public Foundation (EUKK) and put together by academics, ministry officials, independent experts and communications professionals with an aim to tackling questions on 11 subjects the EUKK previously presented to citizens.
Working on the vast EU support in the national referendum, the EUKK asked public figures to demonstrate a common positive stance towards the EU integration, despite differences in other areas.
I think it is very important to closely watch each and every EU referendum. The rise of the European Union is one of the clearest signs of the end-times. Because there is strong evidence that the EU’s first single head of state might be the Antichrist, any political movement that brings us nearer to a more unified Europe has to be viewed as a major advancement of the prophetic timeline.
“And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast” (Revelation 17:12-13). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
