"For a work is being done in your days that you would not believe if told." (Habakkuk 1:5)
On Friday, October 13th, 2006 I had an opportunity to preach for a youth service at an Hispanic church called Iglesia Pentecostal Rehoboth Inc. where the Rev. Jose' E. Velez presides. I'm excited about this opportunity because this was the Lord's doing and because this was my first experience preaching with an interpreter and to another culture. This opportunity came about through a co-worker of mine who asked me, "What am I doing on Friday nights?" I responded, "My Fridays nights are pretty much free at this time." He then proceeded to tell me that the Lord impressed upon his heart to ask me to come and minister to the young people because I had a word for them. (Keep in mind this young man nor his pastor has ever heard me minister before.) I told him I would and he then said he would check with his pastor to see if it was ok. At that point I prayed and asked God if it is your will for me to preach let the pastor give the ok. The Pastor did just that. The day before I had to minister at the church I ran into the pastor at a Chinese restaurant. (Not knowing this was the pastor at the time.) An older gentlemen came in and the Chinese woman behind the counter began to make conversation with him concerning what type of work he does. The gentlemen responded, "I preach the gospel, you know salvation!"
After their conversation was over I asked the gentlemen did he mind me asking him "What was the name of his church?" The gentlemen responded, "Iglesia Pentecostal Rehoboth" (Within myself I said, "I know the name of that church!") I then responded, "Are you Pastor Jose'?" He replied, "Yes!" I replied, "I'm Evangelist Aleechea Pitts and I'm due to preach at your church on tomorrow!" Pastor Jose' gave me a hug and said, "I will see you on tomorrow." God has a way and I like the way he do it! God confirmed right then and there that this thing was a divine appointment from him.
God had pressed into my spirit to preach concerning "Where there is no vision". I must say that I questioned God and asked him "God you sure this is not over their heads?" Need not I tell you that I'm glad that I obeyed the voice of the Lord. Here is the praise report: Many came to the altar for a closer walk with the Lord, for healing in their bodies and for circumstances to work out in their favor. The minister that had invited me told me that it was a word from the Lord because the congregation didn't understand the vision of the pastor. The minister also told me that Pastor Jose' stated that he would invite me back. A week later the same minister came to me with another confirmation stating that another preacher came and preached the same message. He informed me that the Pastor said, "This is two times!"
Never has it ever entered in my mind that I would get an opportunity to preach in such a setting as that. Corinthians 2:9 Paul says: "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither has entered the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love him." I don't boast in myself because it is all about God and not about making a name for myself. I'm sharing this story as a testimonial to encourage someone else along the way to let you know that your time has come. For there is still a vision for the appointed time; it speaks of the end and does not lie. If it seems to tarry, wait for it; it will surely come, it will not delay. (Habakkuk 2:3)
In my closing, many times we feel we have to be connected to certain people to take us to the next level. But when God does a divine connection you don't have to worry about giving praise to man but you can give praise to God alone. "...the righteous live by their faith." (Habbakuk 2:4)
Grace and peace, Evangelist Aleechea Pitts
