There are certain things that should be taught.
quote:
Ac 16:4 And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.
Paul carried decrees from the apostles and elders at Jerusalem to the churches that had been started. I believe that those decrees may have been some of the very letters of the New Testament we have, today- maybe from James, Peter, Jude, & John.
Remember God's principle: in the mouth of two or three witnesses a thing is confirmed. Jesus, Himself, said of Himself that, if He was the only One to bear witness of Himself, He would be a liar.
Paul confirmed that principle two times.
Incidentally: this principle proves that Mohammed is not a prophet of God. There were no prophets who told of his coming. There were no prophets who confirmed his appointment. No voice from heaven was heard confirming his appointment. He blasphemed God who, by the prophets, told us that he would do nothing except He let the prophets know, first.
quote:
Am 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
Mohammed is Mohammed's only witness.

Because of the way we've done church for so long people are conditioned to believe that pastors are supposed to guide churches. The New Covenant writers indicate differently, though. The pastorate is a deaconry. Deaconries are run by deacons installed by the presbytery through the laying on of hands. There are many kinds of deaconries- each with its own level of profile- and risk to the presbytery. Paul says that deacons are to be proven. Here's the process.
  • The overseers realize a need for a new deacon.
  • The overseers ask the congregation for candidates for the deaconry.
  • The congregation submits people they know well as candidates for the deaconry.
  • The overseers put their hands on the candidate and appoint him to a job where he can be proven (such as, serving widow's tables).
  • When the overseers prove that a deacon is faithful at a certain level, they can give him more responsibility. Paul rejected John Mark for a while. Titus & Timothy were approved.
  • The positions of prophet, pastor/teacher, and evangelist are high profile deaconries that elders oversee. Read John's letter to Gaius. See how the elders have the responsibility of informing believers about preachers that are local to them. Demetrius was approved. Diotrophes was rejected.
This is the decent and orderly way of governing a holy nation populated by men Christ has liberated and made kings and priests unto their God.

1 Timothy 4:11-16

KJV(i) 11 These things command and teach. 12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. 14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. 15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. 16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

ECB(i) 11 evangelize and doctrinate these. 12 Have no one disesteem your youth; but be a type of the trustworthy in word, in behavior, in love, in spirit, in trust, in purity 13 until I come: heed to reading, to consolation, to doctrine. 14
DISREGARD NOT THE CHARISMA
Disregard not the charisma within you - given you through prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. 15 Meditate on these: give yourself wholly to be in them to manifest your advancement among all. 16 Heed to yourself and to the doctrine; abide in them: for in so doing you save both yourself and whoever hears you.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

11 There are things we need to teach, there are certain teachings that are more important than others and need to be treated as such, there are things that are repeated in the scriptures if God chose to repeat certain things and chose to focus more on certain teaching don’t you think He expects us to do the same.

12 The young are often viewed as inexperienced. Timothy had experience he had learned from Paul and journey with him and had grown spiritually by serving this allows one to grow faster when they are serving. We should not wait to live a certain way when we have opportunity to serve but live a certain way and we will be given chances to serve because of how we live and more important who we live for. Timothy would have been viewed as incapable because of his age he needed not to focus on proving them wrong but focus on serving the Lord and He would lead them to prove them wrong. God would not have called Timothy if he was to young or inexperienced to handle things.

13 Reading scripture is very important. Jesus read scripture and was able to quote scripture when He needed for us to be able to reflect on scripture for our lives we need to read scripture. Thru hearing and reading scripture we can see God’s plan for us and grow by faith. We should encourage one another to serve the Lord in the ways He has called us. We should teach people the gospel and how they should live as Christians and show them the things we have learned from our times of serving the Lord.

14 We are all given a gift by God to serve, we need to focus on this gift and serve Him by using our gift. God has a purpose for us and the gift He has given us is mean tot be used for this purpose. There should be those who support us and agree with how God has called us. Laying on of hands is very important it shows that God’s people have accepted what you are called to do. It is usually done for a person who is being called to a position in the church.

15 We should live by what we teach, we should not peach one thing and then do something else. A pastor is set to be the guider of the church and should live as an example for the church. A pastor should live in a way where people see his overcomings and are encouraged and know that they can go to them because they have been there and were able to overcome.

16 A pastor goal should be to bring those who hear them closer to Jesus. They should be living in a way that brings them closer to Jesus by them serving Him. Too many pastors today stray to far from the word. Timothy was told here not to focus on other things but focus on the word by doing this he would not lead people away from Christ.
