The Holy Spirit is referred to as the “deposit,” “seal,” and “earnest” in the hearts of Christians (2 Corinthians 1:22; 5:5; Ephesians 1:13-14; 4:30). The Holy Spirit is God’s seal on His people, His claim on us as His very own. The Greek word translated “earnest” in these passages is arrhabōn which means “a pledge,” that is, part of the purchase money or property given in advance as security for the rest. The gift of the Spirit to believers is a down payment on our heavenly inheritance, which Christ has promised us and secured for us at the cross. It is because the Spirit has sealed us that we are assured of our salvation. No one can break the seal of God.

I don't see that as new age at all. The Holy Spirit is God and He is eternal.

Nor do I with this Statement, It's Biblical.

Let me try to un-confuzzle something.

Maybe when I typed "when I desire to make" and then typed , "when you and I make", in my initial post, I may have confused you WildB. I am not saying you or I are the ones to do the work of keeping the contract or even initiating it. What I am saying is that when I, you, or anyone joins in an agreement with God, The earnest of our agreement is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the One who upholds the agreement between myself and God.

Its very similar to joining in an agreement to purchase a home. two parties, a buyer and a seller agree together and to back up that agreement, the buyer puts forth an amount of money to show the seller they are sincere in their desire to complete the purchase. That money is called the earnest.

Now the Holy Spirit is the Earnest, or guarantee, or seal which upholds the blood covenant between God and a believer. It says that God will fulfill and complete the contract. Our salvation is secure based on the guarantor, which is the seal of the Holy Spirit Himself.

Does that make it clearer?

This earnest agreement is a good faith promise to the homeowner that I am serious about wanting to purchase that home. If that earnest agreement is broken by me, the earnest amount stands firm. The seller sees my sincere earnest agreement as something he can trust in if I fail to keep my part of the contract.

Now, When you and I make a blood covenant/contract with God, the Holy Spirit becomes the earnest of our salvation. When I fail to be all that I should be, and fail to do all that i should do, the earnest stands firm and keeps the contract.

I may fail in many ways and I have done so. But the Holy Spirit is now holding me. I am not holding Him. He is the one keeping the contract between me and God. Not me.

If I am not the one keeping the contract, there is nothing I can do to break it.
It is written that " all my sins are forgiven" when I go to Jesus for His saving grace. So what sin is left that I can commit that can separate me from God? NONE.

And since all my sins are expunged, and the Holy Spirit is holding the contract between me and God.. Can I force my will against the Holy Spirit of promise and demand of God that He break His promise to me and let me go?

God forbid!

It is written: " therefore come boldly before the throne of God in time of need".

yes, when we sin, we grieve the Spirit, He grieves because He loves us and desires that we not sin. Yet in His great Love and promise to us, He holds us secure and convicts us of our sin and draws us back into a right standing.

We can be secure in knowing that in our weakness, He is strong!

New age schism frazzle...NOT BIBLICAL!

1 Corinthians 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
1 Corinthians 11:27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

The Holy Spirit SEAL on a believer, whose faith is in the Shed Blood of Christ, has nothing to do with a earnest agreement....For Faith is the 1st Gift of God.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

You or I are in no position to make a blood covenant/contract with God, only Christ is.

EARNEST, contracts. The payment of a part of the price of goods sold, or the delivery of part of such goods, for the purpose of binding the contract.
2. The effect of earnest is to bind the goods sold, and upon their being paid for without default, the buyer is entitled to them. But notwithstanding the earnest, the money must be paid upon taking away the goods, because no other time for payment is appointed; earnest only binds the bargain, and gives the buyer a right to demand, but a demand without payment of the money is void; after earnest given the vendor cannot sell the goods to another, without a default in the vendee, and therefore if the latter does not come and pay, and take the goods, the vendor ought to go and request him, and then if he does not come, pay for the goods and take them away in convenient time, the agreement is dissolved, and he is at liberty to sell them to any other person. 1 Salk. 113: 2 Bl. Com. 447; 2 Kent, Com. 389; Ayl. Pand. 450; 3 Campb. R. 426.
