Zech. 9:
9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an *** , and upon a colt the foal of an *** .

Good stuff Barry.

A donkey for Jesus.

Luke 19:28 And when he had said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. 29 When he drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount that is called Olivet, he sent two of the disciples, 30 saying, “Go into the village in front of you, where on entering you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever yet sat. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say this: ‘The Lord has need of it.’ ” 32 So those who were sent went away and found it just as he had told them. 33 And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?” 34 And they said, “The Lord has need of it.” 35 And they brought it to Jesus, and throwing their cloaks on the colt, they set Jesus on it. 36 And as he rode along, they spread their cloaks on the road. 37 As he was drawing near—already on the way down the Mount of Olives—the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, 38 saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” 39 And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” 40 He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”

Here we find that Jesus is looking for transport. He wants a donkey, not a Rolls-Royce, or something mighty in power and strength. He wants the humble donkey and he sends two of His disciples to untie it and bring it to Him. The task of disciples of Jesus is to untie humble sinners and bring them to Him, presenting them to Him through the gospel. The donkey was tied by its owners, and as the disciples were untying it, its owners didn’t understand why. This is a picture of the sinner tied by the love of this world and held captive by unbelieving friends. Jesus said to the disciples, if anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say this: ‘The Lord has need of it. When the disciples were asked the question, they were obedient to Jesus command and said what He told them to say. In the same way, Jesus disciples must use His word to answer the questions of unbelievers. They brought the donkey to Jesus, threw their cloaks on it, put Jesus on it, spread their cloaks on the road and as He travelled they all rejoiced.

Jesus was now in the driving seat. This is where He wants to be with every believer. He wants to lead us and use us for His glory. And if our only ability is to transport Him by carrying gospel literature, He is happy to be in the driving seat as our motivation and use us as His dumb donkey.

Some of the Pharisees tried to silence the praise of the disciples, but Jesus said, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”

The disciples were motivated to praise the Lord for His mighty work, while the donkey conveyed Him along.

God bless those who are a donkey for Jesus.
