I think those Christians who have been raised in abusive homes are uniquely qualified to help other victims of abuse. God can use our experiences to strengthen us, shape us, fill our hearts with compassion, and prepare us for the spiritual battles of life. And even as we are willing to help victims, as the Holy Spirit leads us, we also stand strongly opposed to abusers, deceivers and manipulators who victimize others.

We should thank God for our thorns.
2 Tim 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
When we cease to feel the pain we become seared.
Exposure to the SON can prevent burning.

I'll take all your hurt and pain onto myself.
I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. (Galatians 2:20)
Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2)

It's so sad that those who are raised in abusive homes are too often seared before they even reach adulthood. These find it especially difficult to trust in the love of God, or to develop lasting relationships with other people.

1 Tim 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
A preacher was doing visitation and on his travels he visited a blacksmith who was working in his forge and making horse shoes. He watched the blacksmith as he put the iron into the fire and heated it until it turned red and then amber and eventually white hot. Then he would take his tongs and lift it out of the fire and shape it on the anvil until he had manufactured a horse shoe. After a short time the blacksmith took the horse shoe in his bare hands and after turning it round to inspect it, he set it on a stone shelf as a finished product.
Then the preacher, wanting to take a closer look at what the old blacksmith had produced, went over and attempting to lift the horseshoe with his bare hand as the old blacksmith had done, discovered that it was too hot to even touch. The blacksmith, with a smile, lifted it again with his bare hands and turning it round to let the preacher see it then set it back on the shelf.
The preacher was amazed that the blacksmith could handle such a hot iron and asked him how was it that he could do that. The blacksmith said to the preacher, there was a time, when like you my hands were soft, but after fifty years of working with hot iron my hands have become seared, and the hot iron no longer affects me as it once did.
God’s word is like a hot iron. When man hears the truth of God’s word for years and continues to ignore the truth, eventually he reaches a point where the word no longer has any effect on his conscience. His conscience becomes seared with the hot iron.
Prov 29:1 He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
