Yes, the Word is good for showing us that "in our flesh dwells no good thing".

The article continued
quote:
, but when we look for Him in the Word and find Him there, His glory casts its reflection upon us!
Although the Word does show us what the Family of God is like, the actual work of casting His glory upon us is done by the Holy Spirit, as we cease from generating our own plans, and by faith we believe God when God said that He would guide our steps once we are saved".

And so I lay down my Adamic tendency to run my own life with my own plans, and instead I agree to listen to Jesus who talks wirelessly from heaven to the Holy Spirit in me.

And then what the Holy Spirit in me has heard from Jesus, the Holy Spirit conveys to my spirit of man, and my spirit of man then conveys that counsel to my soul, and then the soul, that is me.

And I decide whether I will implement with my body what I have just heard from Jesus or what I have just heard from my own mind.

The Christian who implements 100% of Jesus's Counsel does therefore over time begin to "look and sound like Jesus" because frankly, the Christian is implementing the Wise Counsel of Jesus in heaven.

But this work is mostly done by the Holy Spirit and NOT by the written Word. Yes, we can learn more about the Family of God from the Word, but the actual being changed into glory is done when a Christian DECIDES to implement Jesus's Counsel and NO LONGER the Christian's own stupid counsel.

So what the Christian speaks and acts becomes literally what Jesus just told him to do, from moment to moment, and he decreases his own mind and instead the Christian lets Jesus guide all of his steps from heaven.

And by hearing that Counsel the Christian begins to form that same mind of Christ in himself by learning WHAT that mind of Christ IS LIKE from moment to moment, until even a similarly operating mind is formed in the Christian:

Galatians 4:19
My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you.

1 Corinthians 2:16
For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

We have access to the mind of Christ right now. God said that He would guide our steps unto our death once we were saved:

Only when we stop making our own plans (what the Bible calls, "we need to cease from our own works") and we make it a point to start to listen to what the Holy Spirit is receiving from the resurrected Jesus in heaven, then when we implement Jesus's answers for every moment, then our life prospers, because Jesus can see EVERYTHING from heaven, but I can NOT see everything. So Jesus's answers are far superior than my answers because He sees everything, and I only see in part.

The Divine Mirror? It is Jesus in heaven who wants to guide ALL of our steps once we are saved:

Psalm 37:23
The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delights in His way.

Psalm 85:13
Righteousness shall go before Him; and He shall set us in the way of His steps.

Proverbs 16:9
A man's heart devises his way; but the LORD directs his steps.

The glory of Jesus will be manifest in a Christian the more of the Full Counsel of Jesus the Christian implements of that Full Counsel:

Matthew 12:35
A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things; and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.

A good man implements the Counsel given by Jesus to the Holy Spirit in me, and an evil man implements his own way and his own answers still.

That's the difference. And that way we do become a Divine Mirror on earth in which the Lord of heaven is actually being reflected on earth by someone or many someones.

love, Eden

In the divine Mirror, the Bible, we may behold ourselves or we may behold Christ.

It is well to use it first to behold ourselves and see the ruin sin has brought. But let us not stop here. Let a man look into a mirror and find the sun in it and the glory will be reflected in his face. And so it is with the Word. When we see ourselves in it we must necessarily be disappointed, but when we look for Him in the Word and find Him there, His glory casts its reflection upon us!

What need have we then to hide our faces? If David could say, "They looked unto Him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed" (Psa. 34:5), how much more should this be said of us! We know, or should know, more of Him than those of David's day, and those Scriptures specially addressed to us send us forth, not to proclaim God's righteous demands, but to proclaim Christ, the righteous One, who met these demands at Calvary and offers justification and life to all.

And as, in our study of the Scriptures, we turn from the shame of man to the glory of Christ; as we behold Him and see all we have and are in Him, we become constantly more like Him, "changed into the same image from glory to glory" (II Cor. 3:18).

That is all.....
