Some remain carnal because they are not yet truly called.

It is good that we have the scriptures to study, but God can also write his words and laws directly onto one's heart...
Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them

and eventually so to the point we will not need to be taught them....

Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Also, some may outwardly appear MORE carnal while God is making them more spiritually perfect. Some might be demoralized by trials or tragedies for a time, but may rebond to be stronger. Likewise, many who are persecuted may be set back, but will eventually be stronger, more spiritually perfect, and it will be outwardly apparent.

Dan 11:35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

We should definitely read scripture while we can, but know if it is not available that God will provide and we can ask him for what we need.

God has prophesied a famine of his word (this is also the taking away of the "daily" 1,290 days before the desolation of Jerusalem Dan 12:11)..
Amo 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
Amo 8:12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

Not only will those who preached and prophesied of God be hid from the face of the serpent, but actual book burning and worse might again be popular. I have seen men manipulate scripture with malice, but if changing it is not enough, in speech or written form, perhaps some will try to destroy it altogether. There will probably always be bibles around somewhere, and even the falsely religious will have them around. But that's a lot of speculaion.
We are told that when Satan is unable to destroy those who are protected in the wilderness from the tribualtion, he will go to fight those who serve God IN the tribulation....

Rev 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
Rev 12:15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
Rev 12:16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Now, everything I said in the above Topic is nice (and long), but we live in a modern age and have access to a PRINTED Word of God that we can read or listen to on DVD.

The early Gentile Christians had copies of the gospels and letters of the New Testament, but the early Gentile Christians probably had NO ACCESS to an Old Testament.

And then for centuries, the Roman Catholic Christian church was the only one who had access to and also protected the copies of the gospel and the letters of the apostles, but for centuries the average Christian had little to no access to even copies of the New Testament books.

So for me to say above that the written Word of God was needed to divide the soul from the spirit, how did that work for Christians who did not have ACCESS to copies of the New Testament books IN THE CENTURIES, say between 300 A.D. and the 1400s-1500s A.D. when the PRINTED New Testament could be read by the common Christian...that is, if they could read. They had no tapedeck. They had no DVD player. They had no printed copies of what we now call the Word of God.

Were their spirits NOT activated for lack of the Word of God?

mmmm--Can a Christian blossom into a spiritual Christian WITHOUT access to the Word of God?

with love,
eden

Why do so many Christians stay carnal?

Isn't the number one reason that they DO NOT READ THE WORD OF GOD after they were first saved through hearing the gospel good news of Jesus dyign for them.

They were saved, but they never read the Word of God much after that. And it is this reading of the Word of God which starts to produce spiritual fruit INSIDE the believer.

And by "spiritual fruit" I mean that man's "spirit" becomes activated again. For, how is man's spirit activated and made alive again? By the Word of God:

Hebrews 4:12
For the Word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Adam and Eve's sin was that Adam and Eve began to operate their own bodies from the soul level, now ignoring their spirit because God had lifted away from their spirit.

When the soul began to read the Word of God, the words inside the Word of God were spirit which spoke and speak, not to the soul, but to the spirit of man.

And so by reading the Word of God the soul activates his spirit which has been laying idle for so long.

The Word of God separates the functions of the soul and the functions of the spirit for the believer:

Hebrews 4:12
For the Word of God is quick ... piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit ...

I currently believe that when someone believes for the first time, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell inside of them.

But if they then do not read the Word of God after initial salvation, then their soul functions do not get separated from their spirit functions.

Assuming that carnal Christians have the Spirit of God inside of them, then the reason why so many Christians do not read the Word of God to "become spiritual".

Our spirit of man is found and activated by the Word of God. After centuries of soul rule, we descendants of Adam and Eve have no idea what our spirit is, where our spirit is, and what our spirit does. It has to be shown us through the Word of God.

We know how to run our body from the soul level. Hey, we're descended from Adam and Eve.

But a lot of Christians do not read the Word of God so still they don't know how to run their body from the spirit level.

The correct hierarchy of authority established by God was and is:

God>Jesus>spirit of man>soul>body. But Adam and Eve had it this way: God>Jesus>soul>body.

Indeed, it takes reading the Word of God to find and reactivate our spirits.

Christians stay carnal, meaning they continue to operate their bodies from the soul level, without input from the spirit level.

Well may Jesus say to them later, "I never knew you" when they said to Him, "Lord, open unto us also?"

John 6:63
It is the spirit that quickens; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak to you, they are spirit, and they are life.

The spirit of man can interpret and undertand the words of the spirit; but the soul cannot understand the words of the spirit. The words of the spirit of the Word of God bypass the unsuspecting soul and to the surpise of the soul, the soul finds that there is a spirit inside of him:

1 Thessalonians 5
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

For years I walked around as a Christian thinking that I was just a soul and a body until by reading the Word of God I found out I had a spirit. But I know it now. Christians stay carnal because they do not read the Word of God.

And why do they not read the Word of God? Because of the items mentioned in the parable of the sower. Pleasures of this world, mortgages to pay, large family, lazy, don't understand the value of reading the Word, I'm tired, I need to lay down... and things like that? It's not easy, but it is the only way we can become spiritual and no longer soulical.

be blessed, everyone who participates in the church,
with love, eden
