Author: Charles Wesley
Composer: John Zundel
Scripture: Ps 106:4

Love Divine All Loves Excelling

Love divine, all loves excelling,
Joy of heav’n to earth come down;
Fix in us Thy humble dwelling;
All thy faithful mercies crown.
Jesus, Thou art all compassion,
Pure, unbounded love Thou art;
Visit us with Thy salvation;
Enter ev’ry trembling heart.

Breathe, O breathe Thy loving Spirit,
Into ev’ry troubled breast!
Let us all in Thee inherit,
Let us find the promised rest;
Take away our bent to sinning;
Alpha and Omega be;
End of faith, as its beginning,
Set our hearts at liberty.

Come, Almighty to deliver,
Let us all Thy grace receive;
Suddenly return, and never,
Nevermore Thy temples leave.
Thee we would be always blessing,
Serve Thee as Thy host above,
Pray, and praise Thee without ceasing,
Glory in Thy perfect love.

Finish, then, Thy new creation;
Pure and spotless let us be;
Let us see Thy great salvation
Perfectly restored in Thee:
Changed from glory into glory,
Till in heav’n we take our place,
Till we cast our crowns before Thee,
Lost in wonder, love, and praise.

Mt 22:36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"

Mt 22:37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'

Mt 22:38 This is the first and greatest commandment.

Mt 22:39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

Mt 22:40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

The other day as I was driving back to work after my lunch break. I was contemplating every thing the Lord has done for me, but still having a hard time accepting the fact that Jesus could love someone like me. At that moment I saw a car with Missouri license plates. I instantly remembered the short time that I lived there.

I remembered talking to my daughter( that was 5 or 6 at the time) on the phone. She was living with her Mom in Texas at the time and I hadn't seen her or her brother in a couple of months. Towards the end of our conversation she started sobbing and handed the phone to her mother. I asked her mom what was wrong and she said " She's having a rough time right now, she just misses her Daddy" It broke my heart...I remember thinking....wow...my kid's really do love me!!...it might sound silly, but at the time it was hard for me to believe....That someone in this world could care about me like that.

As I was driving I realized that this has been an ongoing problem with me....believing that other people love me...that I'm worthy of Love at all!!... I know it might sound crazy to some, but at that moment The Lord spoke to me...not with an audible voice, but he spoke to me none the less...

He said " That's why it's so important to love others in this world Brandon...How can people believe that I love them, if the people that they see and interact with everyday don't show their love for each other?"

Lord, please help me to accept your Grace and Love...please help me to extend that same Grace and Love to others. In Jesus' name...AMEN
