Hi Eden,
Inward response and outward response are not two separate things even though they may appear that way. One issues from the other.

The man that you were talking about that was preaching.....his preaching was the issuing of the inward faith...no big burly man was going to stop him.

The scariness of faith comes when God leads us into unchartered waters. Unknowns can be scarier than knowns. If that man goes and preaches at the same spot every day it becomes a comfort zone for him. If we go to the internet every day for our preaching, fellowship, etc. it becomes a comfort zone.

When we put our whole life into the hands of the Lord, I can guarantee you that we will eventually be lead into unchartered waters. The Holy Spirit is not predictable. It can take a person in the opposite direction that they may logically think they should go.....We then learn to trust God in the real sense of trust. It is the type of trust that says "yes Lord" even though I have no idea where this is going or how it may pan out in the end.

oneinchrist said to Eden:

"When you ask me to describe what it means for me to "step out in faith" ,it is (to me) more of an inward response to God."

Eden here:

Inward is fine as long as you agree that inward response to God is a lot easier, and if I may say, a lot safer, than going out on a tourist street singing Christian songs or whatever.

I remember some years ago there was a young black man standing in a certain city near a bus stop, reading from the Bible out loud, but without obnoxious shouting or being too loud. This was before I was saved. So I stood there for a while listening, since I had never heard what it said in the Bible before.

But a big burly man got up several times from the bus stop and took a few menacing steps toward the Bible reader, who then shuffled a few feet farther from the bus stop but was still where I was listening.

So let me repeat what you said, oneinchrist:

When you {Eden} ask me to describe what it means for me to 'step out in faith' ,it is (to me) more of an inward response to God.

I do thank God for the Internet because it allows many Christians with an "an inward response to God" to be able to work in the vineyard of the Lord by preaching and teaching and responding to posts and posting Topics for God and His Christ on the Internet.

This Internet is very well suited for most of us, including me, who at least have an inward response to God. The Internet we can do safely from our apartments and houses, thank God.

May God help us to love each other

Hi Eden,
Thanks for responding to my post. I was in a hurry and I realized when it was too late that I meant to say "stepping out in faith"...lol

First of all, I think much could be learned from the dream that I had, but that "stepping out in faith" was something in particular that came to my mind when I remembered the dream.

As far as the dream is concerned ...the part where I realized that I had to go through the door, but I was so scared because I didnt know what was on the other side of it....that part is the part that I would frame out and associate with the idea of "stepping out in faith".

I believe that the application though is an inward application if I may. When you ask me to describe what it means for me to "step out in faith" ,it is (to me) more of an inward response to God. What stops me from going through that door.....either my own fears, and/or lack of trust in the Lord. So "stepping out in faith" I believe is tightly associated with the idea of facing your fears and trusting in Gods protection no matter how frightening or adverse something may appear at first glance.

I hope that I helped you understand my thoughts.

With love in Christ, Daniel

Ok, stepping out on faith. I'm more familiar with the phrase "stepping out in faith", but I get what you mean, oneinchrist (greetings).

So may I ask, as a practical matter, let's say that you, oneinchrist, steps out on faith.

In a normal day, what does that look like?
Do you leave the house?
Do you go somewhere to "step out on faith"?
Or what exactly is it that you do to "step out on faith", oneinchrist?
And lastly, have you "stepped out on faith" and what was it?

Thank you!
May the LORD God help us to love each other,
Eden

Hi everybody,
I had this dream one night that I will never forget. It seemed so real that I may as well have been awake. It made me think about what it may mean to step out on faith. This is how it went.

Two women dressed in glowy white robes grabbed each of my arms and took me to this bench. They did not speak. We sat down and I noticed right across the way that there was this huge door, kind of gothic looking. Immediately I sensed that I had to go through that door. Im telling you talk about a scared feeling. So I walked over to the door stood in front of it, kneeled down and said "Help me Jesus". Then I opened the door and immediately saw snakes on the ground. I kept walking foward and looked ahead. I saw a man looking at me. He had no shirt on. He didnt speak but he began to lead me up towards something he wanted to show me.

I gotta run to work now. I think you must have the idea of what I believe stepping out on faith may mean.

With love in Christ, Daniel
