God is so funny. Last week I got a small inheritance from my deceased stepfather and I pulled into a parking lot somewhere yesterday and as I was getting out of my 1988 Honda Civic, another man and woman came to the car parked next to me, and she said, "is that a 1988 Honda" and I said Yes, but it has 304,000 miles on it".
She then said "I have a 1988 Honda Civic for sale with 92,000 miles on it."
And here is where God gets funny and detailed enough to let me know it is God. Her Honda has 92,000 miles on it, which is exactly the 92,000 miles that my Honda had when I inherited it because my stepfather had had a stroke and could not drive anymore.
That's what I call, the abundant life.

Another example of the abundant life happened recently when the Holy Spirit helped me return to my house in my car because I needed something from the house still.
But when I got to the house, I saw that the backdoor of the house had accidentally been left OPEN and unlocked, so I thanked the Holy Spirit for sending me back to the house. THAT's what I call the abundant life:
John 10:10
The thief comes not, but for to steal and to kill and to destroy; but I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
The Holy Spirit is SO SMART and GENTLEMANLY; it is A JOY to hear HIS suggestions, and ALL of them are the abundant life.

Another example of the abundant life in Jesus, throgh hearing from the Holy Spirit which right Jesus re-earned for me:
I was golfing today and there is a small creek that runs through the center of the golf course. I saw a white golf ball flow down with the current of this creek and I pulled the white golf ball out of the creek, and, lo and behold, it had a JESUS CROSS painted on it in Black Scripto pen.
I played it the whole day on RESURRECTION DAY at the golf course and the Jesus cross ball was NOT AS GOOD aa Jesus on the cross of Calvary, but I say to you, what are the odds of playing 10 years at this golf course and FINDING A BALL IN THE CREEK WITH A CROSS ON IT ON RESURRECTION DAY? Like my non-believing golfing buddy says, "that could have only happened to you". But I call it "the abundant life" of Jesus, Amen?

Another example of the abundant life happened today. I needed to get my car smogged and brought it to the smog place at 10 a.m. I was told at 10:30 that it did not pass that it would be 3 to 4 hours and a diagnostic fee ($75) to find out why my smoggy car did not pass.
I went home and waited at home til 3:30 pm when I got a call that I needed a catalytic converter ($165) and an oxygen senser ($89), plus the diagnostic fee, in all would come to $367, for a smog certificate. I agreed to that.
I took a cab around 5:30 pm to the smog place, and waited until I heard that my car passed. But the bill was only $277 instead of $367, which was $90 less than what I had been quoted.
But then I was informed that because I had been a “gross polluter” status without the catalytic converter and oxgen senser, THEY could not issue me a passed smog certificate because THEY were the ones who had done the repair.
So I STILL did not have my certificate, but I had saved $90. So at 10 minutes before 6 pm. on Monday evening, I drove to the one street that might still have a smog place open, I saw Hill Smog with its gate still open, I pulled in, and he took me as his last customer for $50, so now I’ve paid $277 plus $50 = $327, which is still $40 less than the $367 original quote!
Plus, now my car runs to so good, it’s just like I got a TUNE UP. Now, a tune-up is usually at least $300, with hourly wage for the mechanic of $55 plus parts.
But because this was tied up to them getting my car to pass for the smog certificate, I did not have to pay $55 hourly mechanic’s pay but was all covered under the $75 diagnostics plus parts plan.
And in the end, because he had done the work but could still not issue me a smog certificate, he decided NOT to charge me for the $75 diagnostic and I ended up paying $277 instead of $365.
But this is the best part. God knew that I drive 120 miles round trip to and from work and that my engine needed a tune-up, and so by tying this tune-up to my smog certificate, my timing was reset (free), I got a new catalytic converter ($165), my oxygen sensor was replaced ($89), which was flatlining and sensing nothing anymore so the car had been running rich, now with the oxygen sensor it runs at just the right amount of leanness of fuel, so I’ll save fuel, I mean, while it was happening and I thought, “O man, $367!”, and worried, in the end God gave me an EXCELLENT TUNEUP that God (but lazy me not) knew that I needed PLUS I got my smog certifcate!!!
Hello. I call that The abundant life. The Holy Spirit had it all down, but to me it looked like a disaster at $367. Until it all cleared up and it suddenly looked like a blessing. My car is RUNNING TIGHT!!!

Examples of the abundant life
Last week I mentioned how I ended up buying a phone because God sent me a woman who explained that the ringer is turned off digitally in a menu, and no longer by a button on the outside, she knew, she said, because she had an identical phone at home. That to me is the abundant life.
Two examples of the abundant life occurred today. I was driving up a tree-lined street near my house, and this tree-lined street had many cars parked on it, including a high van parked just before a driveway.
Normally I am not up at 10:00 am, but this time I was and thank the Lord that He had me awake and alert by His Holy Spirit and I saw 3 children come running toward the street in the driveway before which the high van was parked, which obscured the last part of the driveway.
Two of the three children were about 4 or 5 years old, so I decided, hopefully with the help of the Holy Spirit, to come to a complete stop next to the front of the high van…just in case.
And wouldn’t you know it, the little girl ran right past the front of the van and into the street and stopped one yard in front of me as I honked at her and wagged my finger at her… I call that the abundant life.
