Greetings Andy- England is beautiful, my neighbors are from Outer London area their last names is Lannings.
The statement that you have quoted is actually an interprative work. In Judism as in Christianity, Jesus qualms the answers "Render under Cesar the things of Cesars and Unto God the things of God>" Also in the Pauline Epistles it states that man's regard is subject to the higher powers.
For awhile in catholicism, the early popes had married and whatever property that was acquired by the pope, his descended, acquire thru inheritence.
The Patrick Henery quote is the muzzle of old testament rites displayed in the levitical law and the challenge that Jesus the Christ told his followers to understand earthly life, verses the eternal life promised.

Hi All
Just registered on the board, and thought I'd ask my first question. I live in the UK so excuse any British colloquialisms I might use.
I was watching a documentary on Patrick Henry College and it piqued my interest on the statement of beliefs. There was the usual stuff regarding the divinity of God, creationism (won't start that one here), morality etc, but I was interested in the statements around the role of the government in personal property (copied at the bottom of the post). The documentary gave the impression that these beliefs were common within the so-called 'Christian Conservatives' within the US. I was wondering if anyone knows the verses from the bible that this view has been drawn from? I've had a look for property & Government in my biblical topical index and not really found anything useful. I'm certainly not trying to denegrate those views, but I'm interested in more info (if anyone has it) on the biblical foundation for them.
