Should Christian books be sold at a public school's book fair? What about Harry Potter books?
Those were the heated questions tackled Tuesday night at Jacksonville Elementary School. The issue is now the hot topic being debated at the parent-teacher association's book fair fundraiser.
The group is trying to determine what is permissible. One unidentified member of the crowd told the group.
"I don't think we need to be censoring what else comes in and what doesn't come in. Just stick to the books that are sent out to public schools period. Don't you think the books that are sent out are books that kids want to read?
Yes, books that kids want to read are Harry Potter. There are also Christian books that kids in this school want to read."
The controversy began this year, after a media aide ordered two boxes of Christian books.
The Medford School District has decided to keep the status quo for this week's book fair.
That means Christian books are out, but Harry Potter books are in. Click here to see the article
