Thank you.
My mother died last week. She was 74.
I did what I could for her while she was living and '...to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."-II Cor. 5:8
The word "present" is 'at home' or 'abroad'.
What I tried to do for my mother while she was living was all that matters because she isn't here after death. Her family who wouldn't recognise her while she legally conscious, came in, and took the body out of one funeral home to another funeral home. They appointed their own pastor to say what they wanted him to say because they didn't want to chance people hearing my mother's side of the story even though I had no intent of asking the pastor to blame them. They didn't want my mother's wishes respected and they claimed to know her wishes after 25 years of silence to my mother. They made an effort to re-write family history to protect themselves publicly.
What they were afraid of is that people would catch on after my mother's life was maybe revealed or told.
I'm not trying to portray my mother as someone who didn't do anything wrong nor am I going to portray her as a saint. She was a sick woman and her family didn't accept it. The truth is that in my own mom's admission, she told me that she was a sick woman and I accepted it. I accepted it though others wouldn't listen or readily forgive when it was possible to while my mother was alive.

Chuck, my prayers go out to you and your family. May the Lord put his arms around all you, to comfort and give peace in your time of bereavement. He is able.
