I was reading about this just recently, regarding how all the different denominations are a terrible division of the believers/followers of Yeshua.

The Church has been riddled with false practices and untruth posing as doctrine (usually in denominational planks)... which is taken to be a variety... but rather goes against the unity Jesus prayed for in John 17.
That we may be one as he and the Father are one... If the Father and Jesus are one like the Church, then we've all got real problems.

False teaching is only as effective as its ability to convince people it is true. And given the fact that people are not good judges of a n y t h i n g... it's not that hard to pull the wool over their eyes...
First and foremost in the lying devil's bag of tricks is the misuse of truth to get others to place credibility / validity in untruth.
If everything is blatantly untrue then people will not fall for it or rather people will not fall for it for long (once the shock factor has worn off).
If we were to say the sky is yellow, the sun is green and the grass is blue... then most would dismiss this... some would try to see how these things might appear to be true... others will believe it only because it "bucks the system... "
