Socialism is dull gray! But we here in America, where we have not been under socialism, have had a colorful life. I was looking at a dispenser the other day. It was just a plastic container which oil normally comes in. We take it entirely for granted, thinking no more of it than that it contains oil. But it is huge, in its own way, this seemingly meaningless little container. It is a container which has convenient handles molded into it. Quite possibly it has a nifty window on the side which allows the owner of the container to see how much oil one has used out of it. Well, under socialism, this kind of stuff just wouldn't be. Simple, prolific, everyday innovations that accommodate us all around, which make life easier and more colorful, simply wouldn't be in existence without the freedom we have. In fact, if we had lived under socialism for these two centuries, we might have had to have our own container, which we would carry to the store to be filled, or we might not have a need for oil at all. For the things which use oil may not have even been invented. And had they, to what degree would they have been developed over the years? For socialism is dull gray! Innovation would not have existed, and therefore we wouldn't have what we take entirely for granted now.

For example, medical equipment today is nothing short of astonishing. We have unbelievably sophisticated equipment, thanks to capitalism. People in past history would have been overwhelmed to have seen such beneficial equipment available to enrich the quality of life. Such equipment certainly would not have been invented under socialism. There would have been no incentive to create it, except perhaps by a mandate by government. But can government do it? Nay, I tell you. Government would prefer to regulate the 'sick', rather than cure them. Because government cannot 'cope' but with but so much. Government doesn't innovate. And it deals harshly with what it cannot cope with. That is why the free market works. Someone who is out there, cares. And the free market enables him to attend to it. It is the gift of God.

Drugs are another thing. Imagine a world without them. Oh, we would perhaps have the snake oil, and herbs, together with witchdoctors, but the drug companies, staffed with educated chemists, have taken the herbs and extracted, or modeled after them to come up with miracle medicines. This would not have occurred under socialism! And there is, if one will look around, a lot of evidence of the innovations which our capitalistic government has given us. In fact, you may be alive today because of some innovation inspired by the freedom to brainstorm, provided by our capitalist system of government, and do you yet support socialism?

Well, people should never murmer and complain. They should look at what they have that they might be grateful. But 'envy' and 'jealousy' drive people to 'lust' after what others have. This in turn motivates them to want to seize, or lay hold, and their behavior turns ugly. But it is not scriptural to lust to envy. It only hurts everyone when this condition exists.

And another thing, it amazes me how many people are favorable towards lotteries. These same people will wastfully spend their money to ‘gamble’ on a lottery. But capitalism is like a lottery, but it has an extremely high ratio of payoff. Yet people who waste money to play local lotteries, are inclined to distain the lottery of capitalism. Yet capitalism’s payoff is an immensely the better bet. At least some win big. Many others win moderately. You might win big, as is the case of some under this system, or you might not. But everyone else has a better chance of at least winning small. But small is not insignificant. Certainly if one considers what people make for income in third world countries, small in America, is great anywhere else. Consider that here we have health care. There they have the witchdoctor. Now who in America (or the world) wants to go back to that? Evidently the majority!

But if you are the kind of person who would take the winnings, and spend it on a new Cadillac, and High Definition TV, rather than on shoes for the children, or medical insurance, you don’t deserve to be cared about. You have been irresponsible towards yourself, and others. You should not be catered to if you will not treat yourself well. And I am not for taking by force, what the 'haves' have attined to, and giving it to those who will not behave responsibly. For they have opportunity. That is something most people in the whole world do not.
