I was both gratified, and a little amazed, that Steven Spielberg, in his magnum opus blockbuster remake of "War Of The Worlds" chose to leave in the original closing line that the invaders had been stopped by the little things, "that God in His wisdom placed upon the Earth."
Of course, he did follow it with a new second closing line that gave evolution equal time. Welcome to the post-Christian, politically correct America, where even the classics are not immune from retooling.
