Dr. Ed Young (Sr., NOT Jr.!) recently taught two sermons on homosexuality. They were excellent, particularly the first one. If you can get your hands on them, do so. His web site is here. The second message is here. Apparently the earlier one has already been removed from the web site.

If you had a temptation to become an ax murderer, you would resist it. You can resist the temptation to engage in homosexuality. It's a matter of choice, and God has given you the ability to make the choice.

I was reading this thread yesterday and it occurs to me that we might confuse temptation and lust.

Jesus was tempted by the devil. Temptation if from the outside...trying to get you to do something...the devil tried to get Jesus to bow, to tempt God, to prove himself to be the Son of God...etc... but these were NOT Jesus' thoughts..... they were the devil's thoughts.

Temptation might to us be something like the biger than life piece of pie in the bakery counter window that seems to call your name..."Here I am you know you want me... you can just taste my buttery crust and rich fluffy french silk chocolate can't you?"

or to the person who is trying to quit smoking or drinking... go on have one, one wont hurt...

These are temptations...they are from out side of you directed at you.

We handle temptations like Jesus did with the written word or resisting the devil till he flees.

But temptations are not from within us... not our focusing on the flesh. The flesh is always going to want the things that are against God. This is lust lust of the flesh is sin. The way we deal with lust is to walk in the spirit and know that we are not bound to our flesh and to the sin in it...we can walk in the spirit focusing on God and what the mind of Christ in us wants and not listening to the mind of the flesh.

Temptation says "there is a hot guy over there loook... just look it wont hurt to look. We do not participate in temptation it is cast toward us...

Lust says " Oh yeah, he is hot, I wonder what......"

Lust is our participatory thought. It is sin. Jesus never lusted.

I think in thinking about and dealing with these issues, we have to understand the difference between lust and temptation. Because lust must be repented of and confessed to God that he may forgive us. Lust you have control over because we are not in bondage to sin. We are not ruled by our flesh...we have the ability to turn from lust and not focus on the desires of our flesh but on the things of God.

Temptations will come and they cannot be avoided because they do not come from within, but never will we be tempted past what we can bare that God does not give us an escape.

This walk is not about escaping the sins of our flesh, but about crucifying them, dieing to self, presenting our bodies a living sacrifice to HIM.... that requires our activity in walking toward HIM and not toward the flesh ...not minding the things of the flesh but the things of God.

You can sin in your mind, even though you may not be involved in such acts physically. If you fantasize about them in your mind you are sinning.

We have to cast aside these imaginings.

2 Corinthians 10:5
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ

"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And god is faithfull; he wil not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it."
1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV

Temptation itself is not a sin, as Jesus himself was tempted yet never sinned, but it is when you give into the temptation that you have sinned.

DB, You need to have your mind renewed daily by the washing of the water of the Word of God. Stay in His word, Hide His word deep in your heart so that you will not sin against Him.

The enemy is attacking your mind. Do not let the enemy get a foothold. Wash your mind daily with His word. Yeshua did put a much higher standard in the law of thou shall not committ adultry in that He did say if you even look at another with lust in your heart you have committed adultry already. It is a heart matter. Examine yourself, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into the truth. He will not fail you. I will be praying for you.

Matthew 5:27-30

(27) "You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY';

(28) but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her HAS ALREADY committed adultery with her in his heart.

(29) "If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

(30) "If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell.

This is something you and God need to do a lot of serious talking about. It is the Enemy that is bringing these thoughts into your mind to confuse you and you know God is not the author of confusion. It may be a temptation he is pressuring you with because he knows that's where you are weak. But remember "Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world".

The Bible makes it clear that homosexual ACTS are an abomination to God. The thoughts are temptation and, as long as you don't act on them, they are not sin.

On a more personal note brother.

I volunteer as a chaplain at a truck stop chapel.

This is becoming a ever increasing issue .

The enemy (the devil and his cronies) is attacking in numbers, with the intent of destroying families.

The enemy has the world convinced, not just that it is normal, but that people have no choice in the matter.

The enemy is planting seeds in t.v. by putting positive images of homosexuals on most all shows.
Parading it all over the place.
Making it even celebrated and applauded.

I'll be praying for you brother.

I'm here for you if you want to talk.
Just PM me.
