They were written by C.S Lewis, one of the most wonderful Christian authors of this century. He has many non-fiction works such as Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters. He was in fact a close friend of another devout Christian...Tolkien, author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
The seven-book series, Chronicles of Narnia is a fictional allegory to Christ and His sacrifice for us. Christian themes run throughout the books as well as in his Space Trilogy (Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, and That Hideous Strength).
These books are excellent for children and adults alike. They also demonstrate that "fantasy" doesn't necessarily equate with "evil."
I also don't believe we should ever allow our children to read anything we have not read ourselves, so you better to get to cracking By Grace.

Thanks David,
I had not heard of it before.
I may have the kids go ahead and read the books prior to the movie coming out.

I went to a Lifeway Christian Bookstore last night and there was a large display of all the books in the series - "The Chronicles of Narnia."
Has anyone read any of these books?
Disney is producing the movie version that will be out in Dec.2005.
It seems to be 'like' The Lord of the Rings in nature.
