Yes the latter rain Peter was quoting is from Joel:

Joel 2:23
Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

Peter said:

Acts 2:

14But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

15For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

16But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

17And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

Today the Latter Rain adherents believe in a last day’s revival unlike any other in history. The Bible speaks more specifically on a great falling away instead of a harvest in the last days. This movement is an outgrowth of the restoration kingdom now movement and claiming to bring restored truth to the earth. It is mostly anti-Israel and applies eschatological passages for Israel to the church. This involves numerous false teachings such as the manifested Sons of God doctrine, that certain believers will not die but be made immortal in these last days. That there will be an army led by new prophets and apostles into the greatest manifestations of spiritual gifts the church has ever seen. Miracles will be greater than even the apostles.

What exactly did Peter mean when he said this and quoted Joel 2:28? If we go back to the book of Joel (2:28-32 ), we find that the timing of these events are just before the great and dreadful Day of the Lord. The location where this takes place is Israel. The people being referred to are the Jews.

From studies I have done on this subject, I believe the latter day rain is for Israel. After the rapture, Israel will come back to God and there will be a revival among her people. The people of Israel who accept Jesus as their Savior will do so around the middle of the tribulation, many because they will see the anti-Christ defile the temple by declaring himself, god and demanding that the people worship him, in the new Jewish temple. The anti-Christ will then turn on the Jews who refuse to worship him and they will flee with God's protection.

There is revival in the world today but more of it is happening over seas then in America. Sadly more and more "Christian" Churches are leaving the truth of the Gospel and instead preaching and teaching a pc Gospel.
I honestly do not see a great revival in America happening.

Hi everyone, I received this message during my morning devotions a couple days ago. It is evident that this was not just for me. I hope you and I all take it to heart. The specific verse that it came up on was Joel 2:23

Joel 2:23) Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

There shall be a latter rain of my Glory that shall pour forth upon my people. My people shall be strong and do exploits, all those that will yield themselves to me shall be covered with a strong anointing that is from me and they shall hear my voice saying “this is the way , walk ye in it.” Truly this is a season of great change, of great reformation for all those that will give themselves to me fully. Listen to my voice and do not deviate from my words. Hearken unto me and do not follow the ways of the world, the corruption of this world; for certainly my judgment shall come upon it with great speed and all those that refuse to repent, refuse to keep their garments clean, their raiment white, shall be devoured, consumed, and eaten up by my judgment. I the Lord of host am a great judge. Shall I not recompense evil and pour my judgment forth for the iniquity? Shall I not judge the people?

Thus saith the Lord, let this be a season where you have you eyes focused on me, having listening ears, and a heart prepared to serve me, a mind willing to work, a heart of obedience. The Lord of Host is merciful and shall deliver his people in the days of trouble that are about to come upon the earth. Let the Lord reign in your hearts and let your hearts be pure before me. Let all double mindedness cease and let the whole heart turn to the Lord who is abundant in mercy and whose promises are sure, whose word is steadfast and enduring.

The trumpet has gone forth in sounding, the day of the Lord is at hand. Let my people take heart, knowing that their God, the Lord of Host , is not like the idols of the earth which cannot hear, which cannot see, and which cannot save; but can hear the cries and prayers of his people, can see the good and the evil in all places, even to the corners of the earth, and is a mighty deliverer to those that trust in him.

In Jesus name,
Daniel
