quote: For some reason, the gay community is offended when the Bible is read.
well, yeah... because they aren't christians. They don't conform to our faith. Aren't you offended when muslims cry "Jihad! Kill the infidels!"?? Ok, we don't cry "kill the homosexuals", BUT nonetheless when someone reads from a book they have no belief in and tells them that they're lifestyle is evil and is a sin, people are going to be offended. To the average homosexual, certain verses of the bible may be considered by them to be "hate speech" or whatever they may want to call it.
quote: Does this mean that if we read the Bible somewhere and a thief, liar, or murderer heres it and becomes offended that it should be declared as hate speech ?
no.
quote: Hey, if someone wants to be gay let them be gay...You cannot force them not to be...But don't force us not to be able to exercise our right to study and read God's Word which is in fact protected by the constitution of the United States of America.
I agree wholeheartedly.
But I do wonder what Michael Marcavage's intent was at the town hall meeting. Without an actual transcript of the meeting i'm sort of in the dark as to what this is all about or what actually happenned. He may have been harassing Kevin Lee. I'm only read Michael's side, and it doesn't sound like i'm hearing the whole story here.
From my experience, "Repent America" does more bad than they do good.

"Congress shall make no law concerning religion or the free exercise thereof."
This means congress does not have the power to ban the Ten Commandments, school prayer, or reading the Bible...
It's not about who becomes opressed...It's about what's right and what's wrong...
If someone wants to be a homosexual then let them be...But do not laugh in the face of God and declare that it is not wrong.
Does this mean that if we read the Bible somewhere and a thief, liar, or murderer heres it and becomes offended that it should be declared as hate speech ?
What's happened is that there's been lies about what is right and what is wrong in America and the Bible tells us what it is...
For some reason, the gay community is offended when the Bible is read and they don't want to admit that homosexuality is wrong....And it is wrong, just like stealing, lieing, cheating, fornication, ect...ect...
Hey, if someone wants to be gay let them be gay...You cannot force them not to be...But don't force us not to be able to exercise our right to study and read God's Word which is in fact protected by the constitution of the United States of America.

One man's freedom is another man's opression.
... it's funny how the world works. Christians seek more religious freedoms while homosexuals become more opressed. While on the other hand, homosexuals demand the same freedoms while christians become the opressed.
What group do you think is the opressed and which group is the opressor in america? Christians or non-christians?

BIBLE BANNED FROM TOWN COUNCIL MEETING; LABELED AS "HATE SPEECH"
Summary: Michael Marcavage, director of Repent America, faces up to 15 months in jail and a $2,800 fine for reading from the Bible at his local borough council meeting. He is a resident of Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, which is the first community in Delaware County to have an open homosexual in public office. Michael attended the July 21st borough council meeting to share from the Bible his opposition to the council's agenda of attracting more homosexuals to Lansdowne. During the public comment/question period, Michael was ordered not to read from the Bible by the president of the council, who stated that God's Word is "hate speech." Michael was then physically removed from the room and ordered out of the building. Prior to this, he was struck by one of the council members, and further assaulted by the Lansdowne police chief. After being told he is not being charged with any crime, Michael was telephoned the next day by the police chief and informed that he is being charged with "disrupting a public meeting" and "disorderly conduct."
