And you still want peace for this bastardos!! Ahhh!!! [mad2] [mad2] [mad2] [mad2] [mad2] [mad2] [mad2]

Saddam's son beats 12-year-olds who say no to sex: defectors

March 22 2003, 8:20 AM

Saddam Hussein's eldest son mercilessly beats girls as young as 12 on the soles of their feet if they refuse to sleep with him, Iraqi defectors said today.
Uday Hussein forces head teachers of schools in Baghdad's poorest districts to send pupils to his palace where he arranges dates with those he likes.
If the chosen girls annoy him in anyway they are dangled over a wooden beam held by his bodyguards and repeatedly hit with a wooden club, according to two former members of his inner circle who recently fled Iraq.
"He does it to a girl if she says she doesn't want to go out with him, or if she finds another boyfriend, or is late or reluctant," one defector told Vanity Fair magazine.
The 38-year-old warns victims not to flinch while the beating is administered or they will have their legs broken. He often hits them up to 50 times, the report claimed.
Afterwards, when they can barely walk, he orders them to dance.
Uday, head of Iraq's Olympic Committee, was known to have beaten football players and athletes when they lost.
The defectors said he also inflicted beatings, imprisonment and torture on close friends and business associates - simply for being late to a meeting or irritating him.
His punishments have become more brutal since an assassination attempt in 1996 which left him with walking difficulties and problems having sex.
Some victims have been branded on the buttocks with hot irons.
"Uday tells them, 'this mark is never going to go from your body, so you'll remember me until the day you die'," one defector said.
One former friend died after being held down and made to drink huge quantities of pure alcohol.
Business rivals have been shot in the arm or a leg and then allowed to bleed slowly to death.
Uday also likes to deflower virginity, knowing that no one will touch them after he has slept with them, the defectors said.
"He likes joking about with his friends: 'look at her, after this she'll be a prostitute'."
The defectors have been debriefed by MI6 and Pentagon officials and are regarded as reliable sources on the workings of Saddam's regime, the magazine said.
Intelligence officials believe Uday may have been in the bunker hit by a cruise missile in the "decapitation strike" on Baghdad in the first hours of the war.
His younger brother, Qusay, is Saddam's heir after Uday fell out of favour when he murdered a close friend of his father in 1988.

I do find it interesting that ever since we announced an ultimatum to Iraq, there has been a lot of backpedaling from our so-called friends

France is volunteering to help us rebuild and Germany is saying, we always loved the U.S.

Once "out" countries want "in."

Turkey's scrambling to offer room for our troops. Russia's just trying to staying quiet. And before long, I half expect Belgium to send our soldiers chocolates. [Laugh]

It's amazing what a little decisiveness can do.

Suddenly frence sitters become armchair helpers.

I just hope this country has a good memory. That we not forget how so many other countries left us high and dry. [Roll Eyes]

How the Germans, of all people, had the gall to call us militaristic.

How the French called us duplicitous. [hmm]

How they flew around Africa, literally trying to buy off countries to block us. [mad2]

And now they're feeling blocked. And now they're worried -- very worried. [Frown]

What will happen to their deals and their contracts and their business commitments in the Gulf? I know a place they can put those deals and those contracts and those commitments.

It's amazing these guys think we're dumb enough to forgive and forget. They know us well: We're so decent we do forgive and we do forget.

Me? Sadly, I'm a tad more vindictive.

I remember the ones who said they were my friends and proved it. I remember more the ones who said they were my friends and did not.
[Confused]

And Saddam had no SCUDS either! I understand a Lot of stuff has actually been hidden in the basements of civilians and a lot of it moved to Pakistan.

I think SADDAM MAY VERY WELL BE DEAD !

Prov. 11:10 When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.

Let's pray this surgical removal will bring great victory in record time to the Iraqi people and I would love to see our PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH become a HERO in the face of it. FINALLY, we have a REAL LEADER !!

I never thought Hans Blix was JUST.

And I agree that Germany and France have DIRTY HANDS when it comes to Iraq, and I'm hoping that SECRET DIRT will be revealed in great light. SHAME ON THEM !!! I think they will live to regret the great damage they have done to their relations with the USA. [Roll Eyes]

One thing to remember is that Blix was picked and approved by Saddam. does that not smack of collusion? Also it seems France was one of the material suppliers to Iraq. No wonder the no vote.the other countries who voted against the Iraq cleansing need to be carefully scrutinized. I smell something wrong going on.

God Bless

Shortly before the Sept. 11 attacks, a group of al-Qaida fighters left Afghanistan and set up shop in Iraq as a backup base, according to a report in today's Los Angeles Times.

Osama bin Laden's jihadists established such a base in town of Al Biyara and nearby mountain villages where Kurdish militants had begun imposing the strict Islamic rule much like Afghanistan's ousted Taliban regime, according to the Times report.

While this base is further evidence of Saddam Hussein's recent support of al-Qaida, documented by many intelligence sources over the last 10 years, Iraq is attempting to maintain plausible deniability with regard to the bases – suggesting they are outside the control of the government in Baghdad.

While some intelligence sources believe Baghdad maintains liaison with al-Qaida through a senior intelligence officer by the name of Abu Wael, others insist Wael heads Ansar, an al-Qaida affiliate, and actually opposes Hussein.

Within two weeks of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in the United States, Ansar terrorists attacked security forces of the pro-U.S. Kurdish government. More than 20 Kurds were killed, their throats slit and bodies mutilated, according to the Times report. Sporadic and deadly clashes have ensued.

In April, Ansar tried to assassinate Barham Salih, the prime minister of the eastern sector of Iraqi Kurdistan, reports the Times. Five bodyguards were slain. Ansar, the report says, also tested primitive chemical weapons, including a cyanide gas, on farm animals this year.

"For the Kurds, the 600 to 700 Ansar fighters and the 35 to 100 al-Qaida members are now the most serious threat in Kurdistan, the only Iraqi region not under Hussein's control – and the only region that would welcome U.S. troops to oust him," reported the Times. "Fighting broke out again Wednesday when Ansar guerrillas launched a surprise attack on Kurdish security forces, reportedly killing dozens."

According to Qassem Hussein Mohammed, 36, an Iraqi intelligence agent captured by the Kurds in January, Wael was a major in the Iraqi army who joined Hussein's top intelligence unit after finishing law school. He eventually became the clandestine link between Hussein's regime and al-Qaida, he said.

"In 1995, Abu Wael was instructed by Baghdad to go to Afghanistan to be the connection between al-Qaida and Baghdad," Mohammed told the Times. "He did this five years, until he came back to Kurdistan in 2000."

Mohammed says he knows the details because he was the courier between Abu Wael and Baghdad – traveling to both Afghanistan and Kurdistan.

Assertions that Iraq is cooperating and supporting al-Qaida are supported by the findings of a new book by a top terrorism expert.

Yossef Bodansky, author of "The High Cost of Peace," says joint preparations by Hussein, Yasser Arafat and al-Qaida for a new wave of anti-U.S. terror began last spring. The model for the terrorism campaign is Arafat's Black September Organization of the 1970s.

The initiative for the alliance came from Palestinian Islamists based in Lebanon and Syria, according to Bodansky, the U.S. Congress' top terrorism adviser. The response from al-Qaida came April 2, says Bodansky.

"A group calling itself the bin Laden Brigades-Palestine issued a statement formally integrating the Islamist and Fatah wave of anti-Israel terrorism into bin Laden's global jihad," he writes in his new book. "The bin Laden Brigades announced that their forces were now at the disposal of 'Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and fighter commander Marwan al-Barghouti' to fight 'alongside the Brigades' fighters and the Islamic factions.' The statement emphasized that numerous Palestinian factions, specifically including al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, '[had] become part of the International Front for Fighting Jews and Christians, led by Osama bin Laden.' They now '[had] found the path of Islam and adopted the line of genuine resistance of the jihad movement and Islamic resistance, that is the path of jihad and martyrdom for the sake of God, and discarded forever the lies of the alleged peace and the myths of negotiations.'"

The anti-U.S. coalition also includes Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

A communique issued on April 2 from the Unified Leadership of the Intifadah – an umbrella organization representing Arafat's Fatah groups, Hamas, Islamic Jihad and other members of the Palestine Liberation Organization – called for attacks on U.S. interests.

"The United States is backing the Israeli assault on the Palestinians," it said. "Therefore, U.S. facilities, targets and interests throughout the world should be harmed."

Unit 999 of Iraqi intelligence has helped train both Arafat's shock troops and bin Laden's Islamists for suicide operations utilizing weapons of mass destruction. According to Bodansky's book, some of these terrorists have already "succeeded in infiltrating several Arab countries. They are provided with instructions, secret codes and advanced weapons."

According to Israeli sources, the Iraqis permitted the terrorist trainees to test chemical weapons in southern Kurdistan.

Iraq's 12,000-page arms declaration includes an admission that it was working on a nuclear bomb. Baghdad claims that the program was canceled and that no explosives were made.

White House press secretary Ari Fleischer today said "there's skepticism and there's fear" about dictator Saddam Hussein's nuclear ambitions.

Experts studied the nuclear section of the dossier at the the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria.

Mark Gwozdecky, a spokesman for the agency, said the United Nations knew of Iraq's attempts to build a nuclear bomb.

Don't Ask Questions

The admission was "consistent with what we found between 1991 and 1998," he said. "We never speculate about how close Iraq might have been to actually having a weapon."

A top adviser to Hussein, Lt. Gen. Amir al-Saadi, said Sunday: "We have the complete documentation, from design to all the other things. We haven't reached the final assembly of a bomb nor tested it."

The full report names the companies and foreign governments that helped Iraq create weapons of mass destruction. If released, it will "embarrass" some countries and corporations, al-Saadi said.

"Washington has obtained the U.N. Security Council's copy of the mammoth declaration, which has not been made public, and plans to share it only with Russia, Britain, France and China," Fox News Channel reported today.

In its declaration, Iraq insists that it no longer has weapons of mass destruction.

The failure of chief U.N. weapons inspector Hans Blix to inform the U.N. Security Council of the discovery of an Iraqi drone with a 24-foot wingspan, during his oral presentation yesterday, has outraged U.S. officials and cast serious doubt about his objectivity.
According to Britain's Times newspaper, during his oral report to the Council Blix never mentioned the drone, but instead buried the item about the pilotless, remote-controlled aircraft capable of carrying chemical or biological weapons in the 173-page single-spaced report that was distributed to Council members later in the day.

Moreover, also buried in the report, described by Britain's foreign minister, Jack Straw, as a "chilling read," was what it called "credible information" indicating that 21,000 liters of biological warfare agent, including some 10,000 liters of anthrax, was stored in bulk at locations around the country during the Gulf War and was never destroyed.

According to the report, "Recent inspections have also revealed the existence of a drone with a wingspan of 7.45m that has not been declared by Iraq. ... Officials at the inspection site stated that the drone had been test-flown. Further investigation is required to establish the actual specifications and capabilities of these RPV drones," which the Times says are restricted by the same U.N. rules as missiles, which limit their range to 150km (92.6 miles).

In the report, inspectors warned that Iraq still has spraying devices and drop tanks that could be used in dispersing chemical and biological agents from aircraft. "A large number of drop tanks of various types, both imported and locally manufactured, are available and could be modified," it says.

The report, which was obtained by the Times, details the possible chemical and biological arsenal that British and U.S. forces could face in an invasion of Iraq. The report suggests that Iraq has huge stockpiles of anthrax, may be developing long-range missiles and could possess chemical and biological R400 aerial bombs and Scud missiles, and even smallpox.

"Unmovic has credible information that the total quantity of biological warfare agent in bombs, warheads and in bulk at the time of the Gulf War was 7,000 liters more than declared by Iraq. This additional agent was most likely all anthrax," the report revealed.

It started earlier than expected. Within an hour and 40 minutes of the expiration of Bush's ultimatum to Saddam Hussein and his sons to leave Iraq, some 40 Tomahawk cruise missiles (cost: US$56 million) and F-117 stealth fighter bombers struck an Iraqi leadership compound on the outskirts of Baghdad - damage unknown. Apparently US intelligence had credible information of top Iraqi leaders present at that location. A "decapitation strike" they called it. But within a couple of hours of the strike, the head to be cut off appeared on Iraqi TV - tired, grey, and with owlish glasses - calling "the little Bush" a war criminal and predicting certain victory. Round one to whom? Your call. After that? For almost 24 hours now, mostly nothing. Some skirmishes at the Kuwait-Iraq border to keep American journalists "embedded" in US forces busy; a handful of Iraqi missiles fired at Kuwait, shot down or landing in the sand; another brief cruise missile strike at Baghdad. Reports that US marines have moved into the port city of Umm Qasr a dozen or so miles from the Kuwaiti border. Certainly no "shock and awe", more "aw-shucks".

So, what's going on? Statements by US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld at a Thursday morning (US time) press conference may hold some clues. He spent much of his opening comments directly addressing Iraqi officers and soldiers urging them to surrender, then threatening a massive assault "of a force and scope and scale that is beyond what has been seen before". He spent some more time claiming that the US/UK attack on Iraq was supported by a larger coalition than assembled during the Gulf War - a claim later repeated by White House spokesman Ari Fleischer. Later still, the State Department took the quite astonishing step of asking some 60 nations to break diplomatic relations with Iraq and expel Iraqi diplomats. That adds up to a high-profile combined psy-war/diplomatic offensive. The question remains if and when combined high-intensity air and ground operations are to come.

Statements by Pentagon officials - "so far, so very good", referring to signs of the Iraqi military cracking from within - hold a further clue. "Operation Iraqi Freedom" as it has been dubbed is a highly-integrated campaign, combining to an unprecedented extent intelligence, psychological warfare, and diverse military means. The emphasis is on maximum flexibility in operations, not the acting out of a pre-scripted war plan. And clearly, if there is an opportunity to achieve war aims without use of maximum force and large numbers of casualties, why employ such force? What is in place are the intelligence and military force elements to be combined at short notice to achieve optimal results, not a World War I style mobilization that creates its own logic of irreversible military action.

None of this is to say that the much advertised "shock and awe" has been shelved rather than merely postponed. It could, more likely than not, will, still be enacted as other means fail. But that's not the point. "Shock and awe" is only one of numerous ways in which to combine existing force elements into most effective action.

Donald Rumsfeld is known to have had an unusually high degree of input into war planning, to an extent reportedly resented by uniformed Pentagon planners. Early in his tenure, Rumsfeld had commissioned long-time Pentagon planner Andrew Marshall to conduct a full-dress review of US forces structures, tactics, and strategies (See: Bush's lone military superpower vision , Feb 16, 2001). Marshall is associated with the concept of a "revolution in military affairs" - RAM for short - which stresses making the most of the flexibility and multiple combined-arms operations afforded by state-of-the-art weapons, intelligence-gathering, and communications technology. Rumsfeld has remained critical of the extent to which the military has implemented Marshall's recommendations. He now has the opportunity of demonstrating RAM in action. Should it help achieve quick success on the battlefield, he will have won two victories wrapped in one.

With all the non-events of the day in and around Iraq, here's one - thousands of miles away - that caught my attention: informed by a reporter that Iraq had used a Scud missile against Kuwait, chief UN arms inspector Hans Blix said this would be a violation of UN resolutions. Asked further if he thought Iraq would use chemical or biological weapons, Blix said he didn't think so as that would be another violation and would remove Iraq's ability to say it was the aggrieved party. The man should move over from the UN to Broadway and try out as a stand-up comic.

Foxnews reporting that Blix has made a rather astounding confession:

He reportedly said that even if his inspectors had had more time, they very possibly wouldn't have been able to find the weapons in question.

He said he "wants the truth to come out now" and that since the coalition troops are entering Iraq, he recommends that they look in the basements of Iraqi officials.

Wow!

I'll try to find a link, but my source is actually television news [hmm]
