Hi Kindgo,
I don't think that Daniel 11 has come to pass yet, but that it will as a part of The End Time happenings.

Daniel 8 mentions kings from the Medes / Persia region, and I know that that hasn't come to pass yet either, because one of angels (Gabriel?) explained that it was for the END times. Daniel 11 starts off with the mentioning of kings from that region, saying that there'll be four of them; looking at the world now and going by what's expected to happen, I would expect there to be a few Islamic leaders who will go all out at this time - It ain't just Osama. As for George Bush, you'll see. The signs have been there, America is a nation numbered and finished, for real.

Tony Blair was on TV last light, lying away, but then a question was asked about the interest of OIL in Iraq by France and Russia; he didn't want that question, he just didn't want to comment on it. I learnt that a few other people have their eyes on Iraq because it is where they get their OIL from neatly - apparently two thirds of the Earth's OIL is over there, that's what was said (without denial) last night. It was Tony Blair being interviewed by young people from all over the world, apparently - I know that really some propaganda was in motion.

Russia, France and China are never going to agree with England and America over Iraq, it's deep like that. So this must be how nation shall rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom. America does think that they're ready, so that means they'll be as surprised as Goliath, almost. George does what George wants to do, his will.

Jesus told us that there will be Famines and Earthquakes in various places, he'll see to that in a short while. The time is now.

Peace & Righteousness,

J23

Daniel 11 - Antiochus and Antichrist Revisited
Introduction

1. This chapter contains one of the most specifically fulfilled prophecies of the Bible, predicting history over some 375 years, and to the end, with amazing accuracy!

2. The chapter is so specific, that many critics who deny supernatural revelation, have insisted that it is history, written after the fact, fraudulently claiming to be prophecy

3. Joyce Baldwin explains the mindset of late-daters:

a. "Though all of this is presented as if it were future, the considered opinion of most scholars is that the writer was using an accepted literary form, which would have deceived no-one. The intention would be to show that the course of history was under God's direction, and so achieving His purposes. . . When the history becomes prophecy the transition can be detected, because events proved him wrong."

b. Such a view must undermine confidence in the entire book: "Given that this dating (165-164 BC) is correct, the so-called revelation was in fact nothing of the sort. . . . it follows that the preparation for the vision in chapter 10 was also a fiction put in as local colour for the sake of effect."

4. The issue of Daniel's authorship of the book, and its date, have been dealt with in Can We Believe That Daniel Wrote Daniel?
5. Because of the detail of the prophecy, we will be forced to frequently summarize; and the fulfillment of the prophecy will be observed as it is described

A. (1-4) Until the division of the Greek empire

1. There were actually four kings from the time Daniel speaks of until Xerxes, who shall stir up all against the realm of Greece; either the angel omits the current king (Cyrus), looking only to the future; or, he ingores king Smerdis (522-21 BC), because he ruled less than one year and was an imposter to the throne.

2. The mighty king is obviously Alexander the Great; after his death (at age 32, of a fever after a drunken party in Babylon) none of his decendents suceeded him

a. But not because there were not efforts; Alexander did leave three possible heirs: a half brother named Philip, who was mentally deficient; a son who was born after Alexander died; and an illegitimate son named Hercules.

b. The the half-brother and the posthumous son were first designated comonarchs, each with a regent; but fighting amongst the regents eventually resulted in the murder of all possible heirs

c. After this, four generals were able to consolidate control over the empire, but none of them according to his (Alexander's) dominion

3. Why are Persia and Greece in view? Because both of them were arenas where Satan tried, through genocide, to wipe out the people of God.

a. In Persia, during the reign of Xerxes, Satan tried to wipe out the Jews through Haman (as shown in the book of Esther)

b. In Greece, during the reign of Antiochus IV, there was an attempt to wipe out all Jews who would not renounce their commitment to God and embrace Greek culture

4. The rest of the prophecy focuses on two inheritors of portions of Alexander's realm, and the dynasties they established

a. Why these two? Because they constantly fought over the area that lay between their centers of power: the Promised Land

B. The kings of the North (Seleucids) and of the South (Ptolemies) until Antiochus IV (Epiphanes)

1. (5) Ptolemy I of Egypt exerts his control over Palestine, and is the major power in the area

a. One of his princes, Seleucus I, also rises to power, and takes power over the region of Syria; he would eventually become more powerful than his former Egyptian ruler

b. They and their decendants would fight each other for some 130 years; the stronger of the two always had rights to Palestine

2. (6) Ptolemy II sends his daughter Berenice to marry Antiochus II

a. Shall not retain the power of her authority - once Ptolemy II died, Antiochus II put away Berenice and took back his former wife, Laodice

b. But Laodice still didn't trust Antiochus II; so she had him poisoned, and had Berenice, her attendants, and an infant son of Antiochus II and Berenice killed

c. She puts her son, Selecus II, on the throne

3. (7-9) Ptolemy III avenges his sister Berenice's death

a. Ptolemy III was the branch of her (Berenice's) roots which arose after the death of Ptolemy II

b. Ptolemy III invaded Syria, and humbled Seleucus II; but when Ptolemy III went back to Egypt, Selecus II regained much of his former territory

c. Ptolemy III lived four years past Selecus II

5. (10) Seleucus III and Antiochus III

a. These were the two sons of Seleucus II, and were both successful generals; Seleucus III ruled only a short time and was succeeded by his brother

6. (11-12) Antiochus III takes back Palestine but is defeated at Raphia; he gives it all back to Ptolemy IV

7. (13-16) Antiochus III invades again, gaining final control over Palestine, over the armies of Ptolemy V

a. In Palestine, Antiochus III was helped by Jews resentful of Egytpian rule, and was welcomed as a liberator into Jerusalem; but Jewish partisans failed to gain lasting benefit for their people

8. (17) Antiochus III gives his daughter Cleopatra to Ptolemy V, in hopes of permanent influence in Egypt

a. She was, more specifically, Cleopatra I, the ancestor of the famous Cleopatra who would live some 100 years later

b. But Cleopatra I disappointed her father by being very faithful to Ptolemy V and Egypt

9. (18-19) After regaining Palestine, Antiochus III turns his attention to the Greek coastlands

a. He was eventually turned back by a Roman ruler (Lucius Cornelius Scipio)

b. His second son, Antiochus IV, was taken to Rome as a prisoner and spends two years there

c. His inglorious end: needing money for the treasury badly, he resorted to pillaging a Babylonian temple, and was killed by enraged local inhabitants

10. (20) The brief reign of Seleucus III, the eldest son of Antiochus III

a. He sought to tax his domains to increase revenues; his attempt to pillage the Jersualem temple was thwarted when his emissary had an angelic vision of warning

C. Antiochus IV Epiphanes: A Vile Person

1. (21) His description and rise to power

a. Antiochus IV did not come to the throne legitimately, having killed his older brother, and taking advantage Seleucus III son's imprisonment in Rome

b. He legitimized his rule not through terror, but by flattery, smooth promises and intrigue

c. He took the title "Epiphanes," meaning "illustrious"; but others derisively called him "Epimanes," meaning "madman"

2. (22-27) His dealings with Ptolemy VII, and failure to take Egypt

a. He carries on the feud between the dynasties, with a plan to throw his intended victims off guard by offering them friendship and alliance

b. Antiochus IV's second campaign to Egypt was an important one for the balance of world power; it put him permanently under Rome's status

c. When Antiochus IV was defeated at Egypt by the Roman navy, a Roman general drew a circle around him in the dirt and demanded to know if he would surrender and pay tribute to Rome, and demanded to know before he stepped out of the circle. From then on, there was no doubt: Antiochus took his orders from Rome

3. (28-35) His return in disappointment from Egypt, and treatment of Jersualem

a. Bitter from defeat, Antiochus IV vents his anger against a Jersualem which is in turmoil because of his selling of the office of High Priest and pressure to conform to Greek culture

b. The people were divided; some forsook their covenant with God, and embraced Greek culture; but those who knew their God made a stand in the face of incredible persecution

c. He set up an image of Zeus at the temple altar, and demanded sacrifice to it, and later desecrate the temple by sacrificing a pig on it

i. "It was in truth an abomination, which brought a desolate condition to the Temple, for now no one would come to worship at all." (Wood)

d. In Antiochus IV's attack on Jersusalem, he is said to have killed 80,000 Jews, taken 40,000 more as prisoners, and sold another 40,000 as slaves; he also pilaged the temple, robbing it of something in the area of $1 billion

e. But it could only last for as long as God had appointed it; and God had a purpose even for such persecution and blasphemy; remember Psalm 76:10: Surely the wrath of man shall praise You

D. The Antichrist: the "last days Antiochus Epiphanes"

1. (36) "The willful king": a shift to a future fulfillment

a. Remember that Daniel was told that the revelation he would receive pertained to the latter days (10:14); and Jesus said that the real abomination of desolation was yet future

i. Antiochus Epiphanes is important, but mostly as a historical picture of Antichrist; this is why so much space has been given to describing the career of one evil man: because he prefigures the ultimate evil man

b. Antichrist will magnify himself above every god; but Antiochus was evidently loyal to the Greek religious tradition, which revered the entire Olympian pantheon

c. Antichrist will do much damage; but he is on a short chain, and will only work into God's plan

2. (37-39) The Antichrist's character and authority

a. Based on verse 37, many regard the Antichrist as of Jewish descent; and some say also he may be a homosexual

i. But many commentators believe that the desire of women refers to Jesus, in that all women desired the honor of bearing Messiah, understanding "desire" as in Haggai 2:7
ii. Seing the desire of women as Jesus makes most sense in light of the flow of context

b. The Antichrist's bottom line: power and wealth; and he knows how to extend his power over many

3. (40-45) The final conflict

a. Precise identification of peoples mentioned is difficult; king of the South may be Egypt, or represent the Arab community; king of the North may be the Antichrist's domain (as the "new Antiochus"), or it may be Russia

b. In summary, the end will be marked by great conflict, culminating in the world's armies gathering at the Promised Land, to do final battle

c. In the end, there is no hope for the Antichrist, or for any of his followers

Daniel 11:

quote:
1 Also I in the first year of Darius the Mede, even I, stood to confirm and to strengthen him.

2 And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.

3 And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.

4 And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others beside those.

When America does fall some people may think that it is the fulfilment of Revelation 18, The Fall of Babylon The Great, Mother of Harlots and Abominations of the Earth, but that won't be the case. America and England are those twin towers that fell on 11th September 2001 - it was a subliminal parable of what is to come.

"An inheritance may be gained hastily at the beginning, but the ending thereof shall not be blessed." - A proverb

Be careful to not be confused about the fulfilment of the scriptures because you can be lost with regards to which time it is. Europe is going to take over the world, Rome is the city destined to reign over the kings of the Earth and she's already got a majority signed up to her programme.

Europe is on the rise, Rome knows so, England and America know so, it's only the people within them that haven't clocked on yet (panic spared). All of this war on terrorism talk is because of the time certain people know it is, the time of America'a reward, and a warning from God of what he will do. Bush can't stop it, and whoever would try to puts themself in danger, because the Holy Spirit is the overseer of what is about to happen. Daniel 8 is all about WW3 over a long number of days, and it says there that the Kings of Media and Persia will be on top of things for a moment long enough, and possibly first. I suggest that America and Israel will certainly be targets and that the 42 month trampling of Jerusalem by the Gentiles will commence signalling that the 7 year tribulation will have begun.

I suggest that in America's haste something BIG has been overlooked. Europe sits back and watches what happens, all they need to do right now is exercise their patience. They're all snakes playing each other, but now America is in a corner clutching at straws knowing that the whole world is watching.

The people who don't understand what's going on will become more wicked and more wicked, then they're making a rebellion against God. This will be the time when people will think to themselves that they can take revenge against God, but they need to read the words that Moses spoke written in Deuteronomy 32.

I'm on the Lord's side, nothing's ever going to change that. Terrible things are on their way, but know that the most terrible thing is to be condemned by the Son of man.

Peace & Righteousness,

US forces will go it alone to Baghdad

World News

March 04, 2003

US forces will go it alone to Baghdad
From Daniel McGrory in Kuwait and Michael Evans, Defence Editor

AMERICAN forces will play the key role in the capture of Baghdad, with British troops being confined to the south of Iraq. “It won’t be the Union flag flying over Baghdad,” one British defence source said.
US Marines and armoured divisions will be given the role of advancing as rapidly as possible on the Iraqi capital.

The Pentagon hopes that it will not be necessary to conduct a street-fighting operation to capture the city. However, if there has to be an assault on Baghdad to overcome resistance by Iraq’s Republican Guard, the mission will be carried out exclusively by American forces, the sources said.

A senior British Army source said: “This decision is part political, part military, but the Americans have made it clear Baghdad is their prize.”

Defence sources said that a number of military options were still being considered but an advance on Baghdad by British units was not seen as a likely role for any of the formations now training in Kuwait.

Britain has sent 7th Armoured Brigade, 16 Air Assault Brigade and 3 Commando Brigade to the region. Defence sources said every expectation was that they would be given a significant role in the American battle plan.

The three British formations are now expected to be involved in operations in southern Iraq. All three are in or being sent to Kuwait and there are no plans to deploy any of them to Turkey in the event of the Turkish parliament changing its mind and approving 62,000 American troops being based in the country.

Military sources in Kuwait said that British troops were expected to assist in seizing Basra, Iraq’s second city, and control the southern segment of the country, including the oil fields at Rumalia.

America’s chief commander in Europe said yesterday that the vote of the Turkish parliament, on Saturday, not to allow US troops to be based in the country would not ruin the overall battle plan.

“I don’t think it will be a show-stopper,” General James Jones, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, said. However, he said that advancing on Iraq from the north would “definitely have a military advantage” because of the importance of confronting Iraqi forces on several fronts.

General Tommy Franks, Commander of US Central Command who would lead a coalition invasion force, is said by US military sources to be full of admiration for the British military capability at his disposal and had intended to give 7th Armoured Brigade a role in the advance on Baghdad. This was vetoed by Washington, the sources said.

A British source said: “We never really thought we would be in the vanguard of troops going to Baghdad but it’s not an issue for us. The role to be given to British troops will be an important one. We are not there just for show.”

If the British role is to be in southern Iraq, their mission would include countering any resistance from regular Iraqi troops refusing to surrender.

This plan might change if it took longer than expected for US forces to reach Baghdad. A British military official said: “If, for example, they encounter significant resistance on their way to the capital, and this campaign looks like dragging on longer than Washington anticipates, it may be that British armour is moved further forward.”

If there is no change of mind in Turkey, General Franks will have to redirect about two dozen ships waiting to offload tanks and armoured vehicles into Turkish ports. The equipment, which is destined for the US Army’s 4th Infantry Division, would have to be sent to Kuwait, defence sources said. Yesterday, Sheikh Jaber al-Hamad al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti Defence Minister, said that his country would accept the American troops who had been bound for Turkey.

If Turkey had approved the use of its bases, American troops would have had a guaranteed supply chain and line of communication to Baghdad from the north. Defence sources said that plan “B” would involve a complex airborne operation, taking lightly armed infantry and marine forces from Kuwait to seize key locations in northern Iraq. Troops of 4th Infantry Division would have to drive there from Kuwait.
