Well Well, [uhoh]

In the UK, Guns have been taken away. Home Alarms have been made mandatory for home insurance. And, you can be prosecuted for hurting a would-be burgluar. Result? Theives have decided the best time to break into your home is when you are home. The answer? See for yourself.

Problem-Reaction-Solution. If only we would respond and not react.

Police launch spy camera scheme Dec 17 2002

Serial burglary victims have had tiny spy cameras fitted in their homes in a bid by police to catch thieves in the act, it emerged today.

The scheme has already been piloted in Coventry and has so far seen four burglars convicted. Now West Midlands Police is extending it across the whole force area.

"A tiny, infrared camera will be installed in these premises in an attempt to capture anyone who breaks in. The cameras are so small they are almost invisible to the naked eye," said Superintendent Peter Goodman, co-ordinating the campaign.

The undercover "house trap" cameras can be easily hidden in objects around the house, making them virtually undetectable to burglars.

"The aim of using these cameras is to protect vulnerable homes and to act as a deterrent to would-be burglars," Supt Goodman said.

"Hopefully, by installing these cameras in the most vulnerable properties, we will be able to catch thieves 'in the act'."

"The most susceptible homes and those most likely to be subject of repeat break-ins are those which are exposed and have little evidence of security.

"Home Office research shows many offenders return to the original target within a short time because only makeshift repairs have been carried out or the householder has replaced all of the stolen goods."

The spy-camera blitz is the latest initiative from Operation Safer Homes, a force wide operation aimed at tackling burglary.

Since being launched in October the operation has seen a 25% fall in house burglary, compared to October and November last year.

Thanks RR gang [thumbsup]
