Nothing. Friendly fire accidents are a hazard of war.

I think they should investigate it, but I think the remorse would be punishment enough. Although these days IFF would stop a lot of fratricide incidents. You have to remember though, being in a combat zone, with your life on the line, you would be at an extremely high level of alertness, and some people would get jumpy, and, out of reflex, shoot before thinking. My grandfather served in the Australian Army in World War II, and he said that a number of times in New Guinea, Australian patrols were fired upon by American patrols, and vice verca. It's whats known as "the fog of war".

I voted Nothing! Who are we to be judge and jury?
Are we not suppose to forgive others as we are forgiven? It is they that will stand before God and have to answer for their actions. Let Him decide how they should be handled. I am having religion issues right now, but I do believe that He will take care of any infractions that man has committed on judgement day.

I really think they should be investigate to make sure it was an accident and then depending on that outcome -- reprimanded or exonerated or removed from service -- whatever depending on the severity of the "accident". [tears]

They are pilots who accidentally (we hope) fire upon their own men.
