If it was posted in a different category I would agree with you.

But it showed up in the top slot for attention and not for sound and edifying teaching.

If your boy Berry was not so pride full he would of deleted it.

But the contention goes on.

Those Smelly addendum's are cursed by Paul.

.........GRACE AND LAW MIXED.

While you entertain the baseball fans with one hand balled up into a righteous fist or the pointing of a fickeled finger at others your very busy planting weed seed in God's garden with the other hand moved by a fleshly heart..

I thank God that you are at least not spamming the board like you use to with your sillyness.

It is clear to all what is required by your legal/grace gospel.

An addendum, in general, is an addition to a certain document, sometimes subsequent to its edition, publication or diffusion.

In contracts

In other documents, most importantly in contracts, an addendum is an additional document not included in the main part of the contract which may contain additional terms, specifications, provisions, standard forms or other information. A contract addendum may also be called an appendix, an annex or a rider.
Addenda are often used in standard form contracts to make changes or add specific detail. For example, an addendum might be added to a contract to change a date or add details as to delivery of goods or pricing. The addendum should be referenced in the contract, or the contract should be referenced in the addendum, so that it's clear to which contract the addendum is modifying.
A rider is often used to add specific detail and especially specific conditions to a standard contract such as an insurance contract. A rider may also be added to a piece of legislation.

Are you a Christian? If not,

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

I agree Wild B. Can't imagine putting the word sleazy in front of Grace.
Grace is such a precious gift from God. How could we ever trash the word?
Shame on your Barry. repent and consider how wonderful grace is.

The Old Testament Law or better yet the Law should not be yoked with grace. Grace is entirely the work of God. I believe the resurrection of Jesus began the church and grace. The gospel minus the resurrection still leads to mortal death. Everyone can die, but no one but God can resurrect himself from the grave. Some Christians believe that the Church began in Antioch, but I believe the Church began in Jerusalem. Since there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile all must be saved by the same blood of Jesus which is the power to become sons and daughters of God.

The Following is from the book of "Bundles of Arrows by Carridine"

CHAPTER X
THE DAILY DEATH
In one of his epistles Paul declared that "he kept his body under." A number who strive to find scripture to bolster them in their teaching of the suppression of the sin principle or carnal mind, have endeavored to make this verse serve their purpose.
Unfortunately for them the Apostle does not say he "kept the body of sin under," but his own body. There is a great difference between the "body of sin" created by the devil, and the human body made by the Almighty. The former is to be crucified and destroyed, and the latter is to be kept under.
In another place Paul declared that he underwent a daily death. His words were, "I die daily."
Again we hear the defenders and apologists of resident sin in the heart, crying out that we make a grave mistake in saying the body of sin or the old man is put to death, for here the great Apostle to the Gentiles plainly states that his experience was a daily death.
A careful reader of the Bible could never, it seems to us, so mix and confound such widely different scripture passages as the verses referred to. Paul did not say that "the old man" died daily, but "I (Paul) die daily." The devil made the old man, and God made Paul. The apostle in perfect understanding of what he is writing about, declares a single, final, finishing death for the Old Man, while for himself he says, "I die daily."
Moreover in this expression, not the slightest reference is made to any kind of sin, but to a martyrdom which he expected might befall him any day at the hand of the Caesars.
As with Paul the sanctified people of today can bear witness to the unmistakable, instantaneous and complete death of inbred sin or the old man, and also to an experience which follows in this earthly life which can be most properly described in the words, "I die daily."
This is not "the deeper death" taught by some evangelists, who feeling still the remains of the carnal mind, are naturally driven to such a teaching. How can there be a deeper death? A death is a death. If the old man is dead, he is dead. What death can there be for the dead, but that which is called the second death in hell--and which of itself never dies!
No, there can be a complete death of the body of sin in the soul the heart entering at once upon a life of cleanness and restfulness; and yet as individuals we make acquaintance with what may be called a daily death. The old man dies once for all, but we in a sense die daily. And as with the Apostle it is not sin that is the trouble, but something very widely and radically different from sin.
Paul moved in an atmosphere of martyrdom. Perhaps many holy people who read these lines are doing the same. Many of them have found out what is meant by the white blood of the nerve. They have been tied on the rack, and broken repeatedly on the wheel which was set going in domestic, social and ecclesiastical chambers. They feel in a deep mystic sense they have fought with gladiators and have been thrown to wild beasts of Ephesus. Truly they know another death than that of the old man.
First, there is the dying to the constant slights shown them and discount set upon their words and deeds by their own church brethren. A holy people expect as much from the world, but it comes with quite a shock to find that a great part of the family of God despise and condemn them.
No matter what is done in the way of zeal, activity, liberality and magnanimity on the part of the truly sanctified, it is all met with a chilling indifference not to say condemnation by the churches of today.
As a boy we once displeased the acknowledged king of the school play ground. We made some swift and capital runs in the game we were playing after that, but he ignored them all, froze us with his cold stare, and ingloriously put us aside. Very nobly and liberally and faithfully are some of God's holy people doing today in the pew and pulpit. But unless they give up preaching and testifying to sanctification they meet the stony gaze, the icy silence, and the careful avoidance of all words of praise and commendation of what has been done for God, the church and humanity. This is a kind of martyrdom, and here we have to die.
Second, there is the constant dying to the deliberate and repeated misrepresentation of motives, performances, character and life.
This assailing comes not from one quarter; but just as Christ had the Scribes, Pharisees, Sadducees, Herodians, Essenes and every other following and organization against him, so the man baptized with the Holy Ghost and fire, and who testifies to it, and urges it upon others, will get to know what the words isolation and loneliness mean, and find out all that is embraced in the term general opposition. He will discover as he plumbs the straight line of holiness that the hand of every man seems to be lifted against him. John Wesley not only had the world and the church opposed to him, but numbers on his own side, in the very societies he had founded. The cost of obtaining and retaining the genuine blessing, and of staying on the main line of holiness, is to have Pharisee, Sadducee, Essene, Herodian, Long Hair, Short Hair, Wild Eye, Ranter, Skinner, Blisterer, and a multitude of other characters solidly arrayed against one. To all of this we must die, and die daily.
Third, there must be a dying to a number of personally disagreeable and offensive people who are coming up the road along with the holiness movement.
Who has not encountered the individual who deliberately tried to overhear confidential conversations? Who has not met the person, male or female, who pries into one's personal and family history, and propounds questions that no one with any true refinement or proper regard for the proprieties could or would ever dream of asking? Who has not been interviewed, examined and cross-questioned, so to speak, by the veriest strangers and briefest of acquaintances as to one's age, size of family, spiritual condition of each, etc., etc., etc.
One lady asked a certain evangelist if his teeth were false, and if she might feel them with her finger so as to be able to settle a dispute then going on among five others of her sex in regard to that interesting fact. The aforesaid brother could have convinced the skeptical sister in a most impressive and incisive way concerning the genuineness and steadfastness of the molars in controversy, but it would not have been in harmony with the teachings of Perfect Love, and so he refrained, though doubtless he was tempted.
It is very likely that many in the land today would be only too glad to have an addition to the Litany reading after this manner, "From all such social plagues and pestilences may a kind Providence deliver us." But as it seems we cannot escape from the affliction of such people, then the next best thing is to die to them.
A fourth dying is seen in the patient endurance of slanderous attack and coarse personal abuse.
There are numbers of individuals in the church and in the holiness ranks who have been made the recipients of the most abusive and insulting letters, and have seen repeatedly printed in different publications the gravest of charges and slanders. The writer, printer, publisher and even deliverer of these attacks perhaps did not know that they were violating one of the Postal Laws of the United States, and had subjected themselves to a fine of thousands of dollars, and an imprisonment of years in the penitentiary. It is nothing to the United States whether the charges are true or false. That is not the point. The Government does not propose that its mail system should be prostituted to the use of originators and disseminators of slander. If any one doubts what the writer says about this, let him procure a copy of the postal laws of the United States and read the section relative to scurrilous and slanderous letters and printed matter sent by the mails. The fact that a number of evangelists and preachers, wit h the law in their hands against these vilifiers, refuse to use their power, but go on patiently and silently, shows how thoroughly the soul can die to the abuser and slanderer.
A fifth dying must take place in regard to our hold upon persons we once spiritually helped, and to our influence in places where in other days we preached and labored and had great success and triumph.
It is deeply impressive and thought provoking to see how a preacher sent to a new pastoral charge tries to retain his ascendency and rulership in the old appointment left behind. Also the smile is made to deepen in noticing how some evangelists unconsciously fall into the role of playing the Cardinal, the Pope, or the Diocesan Bishop, in towns and communities where they have held in former days a successful meeting.
They do not know how to stand aside for other men as much sent of God as themselves. They would keep the whole community under their wing. They would rule and reign without a rival, over conscience and life, general and cosmopolitan as it may be. The fact that their own particular work is ended; that other men gifted and used of the Spirit may be needed, does not seem to occur to them. The additional truth that the people they once taught to walk, can ever walk without them is too painful a thought to be admitted to the mind. So though far distant these kind of brethren still wish to fill the milk bottle, and prepare the food, and are exceedingly distressed to discover that their own spiritual children have actually taken catnip tea from another hand, and have even gone to broiling their own steaks.
We find that we are called upon to die out completely here, in the acceptance of the fact that the persons we once were made a blessing to, can get along without us; that they even forget us; and that other laborers coming in, crowd us out from the heart, mind, plan and life of the people even where there is no unkindness or hatred toward us who were peculiarly near and dear in earlier days.
We could say much more on this line of thought, but enough has been written to plainly show that after the funeral of the Old Man, there are still repeated visits of the hearse to the door of one's life. There is and should be no more death to "the body of sin." And Scripture and Reason alike are against the idea of a deeper death of the carnal mind or inbred sin. But there are frequent deaths to persons, conditions and all the changing circumstances of this life, where sin is not, and should not be involved a single particle.
The black crepe has fluttered on the door knob a number of times since the burial of the "Old Man," but it was not for him. He had not been granted a resurrection, to be followed with a deeper death, and therefore treated to bigger bunches of crepe and longer streamers of woe.
No, after obtaining the great blessing some of us thought that certain things must be or must not be, or we did not see how we could well live, get along, etc., etc., etc. Well, these same trying, painful melancholy things came to pass just as we preferred they should not. And as they would not die to us, we concluded to die to them. Hence the frequent flutter of the black crepe on the door knob, though the old man lies cold and dead in the graveyard.

Sleazy Grace is actually placing the Law's Yoke of Bondage upon the neck of the Believer:

Galations
5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

5:2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.

5:3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.

5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

It is interesting about Rev. Russ. He seems to have taken his theological training with a Roman Catholic/Liturgical flavor:

quote:

I want to present you with a term you may have never heard before, which is "Sleazy grace." And I want you to understand that it’s not the kind of forgiveness of sin which frees you from the toils of sin. "Sleazy grace" is the grace you bestow upon yourself. "Sleazy grace" is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline, absolution without personal confession and communion without confession.

absolution without personal confession and communion without confession.

ab·so·lu·tion
noun \ˌab-sə-ˈlü-shən\
Definition of ABSOLUTION
: the act of absolving; specifically : a remission of sins pronounced by a priest (as in the sacrament of reconciliation)

"A high-tech way to deliver God's Word"

Sleazy Grace

Rom 6:1,2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

I want to present you with a term you may have never heard before, which is "Sleazy grace." And I want you to understand that it’s not the kind of forgiveness of sin which frees you from the toils of sin. "Sleazy grace" is the grace you bestow upon yourself. "Sleazy grace" is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline, absolution without personal confession and communion without confession.

"Sleazy grace" is ultimately belief without obedience, hearing without doing, intellectual assent without life commitment. "Sleazy grace" says you don't have to be concerned about purity, holiness, and obedience. After all, Jesus already did all that so that you don't have to, some reason. But is that true? Absolutely not! He did all that, empowered by the Holy Spirit, so that His life could live again through you.

"Sleazy grace" is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline, absolution without personal confession and communion without confession.

It is direct conflict with another section of the article:

quote:

"Sleazy grace" mixes God’s strengths with yours. It never fully destroys the self-life and in fact, it often enlists it to accomplish what it will. "Sleazy grace" is the grace you bestow upon yourself and base on your idea of right and wrong. "Sleazy grace" is not concerned with righteousness, but with duty and obligation. True grace is not about you; it is all about God.

True grace isn’t concerned with right and wrong, but is given because of the righteousness of Jesus. True grace is given, and can only be appropriated, or applied in your life through the power and person of Jesus, because "as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."(Rom 5:21)

So what about "grace" and "works?" Good works come as a "result" of receiving "grace" through "faith." The order cannot be changed, and this is an essential point of Christianity. No man can do anything to "earn" God's favor or approval. Only Jesus is approved by God.

We are saved by faith ALONE in Christ ALONE.

Here is one of Rev. Russ' daily meditations on the Sabbath. You have quoted him on "sleazy grace", Barry, do you concur with his teaching on the Sabbath?:

http://dailymeditation.us/TheSabbath.html

quote:

When anybody makes a statement, you must first determine who the statement is addressed too. That is just common sense. So let’s look at God’s Word and find out to whom God was speaking. God stated, “Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant.”(Ex. 31:16) He went on to say, “It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever.”(Ex. 31:17) That Is God’s Word, not my opinion!(Smile)

Now, lest one think that the “children of Israel” means every Christian, let’s take a look at I Cor. 10:32 where He makes a distinction between the different peoples. God’s Word states, “Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Gentiles or to the church of God.” As one can see, there is difference between the "children of Israel/Jews" and you as a Christian/church of God. In plain English, the “Sabbath” commandment was addressed ONLY to the "children of Israel."

Jesus stated, "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.” (Matthew 5:17,18) He meant exactly what He said. The Greek word for “fulfilled” is “ginomai.” ghin'-om-ahee It is a prol. and mid. form of a prim. verb. It means: to cause to be ("gen"-erate), i.e. (reflex.) to become (come into being), used with great latitude (lit. fig., intens., etc.):--arise be assembled, be (come, -fall, -have self), be brought (to pass), (be) come (to pass), continue, be divided, be done, draw, be ended, fall, be finished, follow, be found, be fulfilled. Jesus said “ I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.” That is exactly what He did.

I am fully aware that there are those who believe that a Christian should keep the Sabbath today. I have no argument with them. That is between them and God. However those same people seem to get cold feet when you point out to them that God said “In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates, that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you.” (Deut. 5:14) The American Heritage Dictionary defines the word “servant” as 1. One who is privately employed to perform domestic services. 2. One who is publicly employed to perform services. A “servant” is anyone who serves you such as bus-driver who drove you to church, the phone operator who you expect to serve you, the worker down at the electric company who keeps the lights burning while you are worshiping. The penalty for allowing anyone to serve you was severe! God said “Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death.”(Ex. 31:15) As I said, those who say you must keep the “Sabbath” commandment get cold feet when God’s standards for the children of Israel are applied to them.

Finally, God stated in I Cor 2:16 through Paul, after Jesus had “fulfilled” the law , “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days.” Yes, God stated that, and it is the truth whether one believes it or not.

By the way Barry if you happen to delete the initial post I have saved yours and mine to Word, and can restore Rev. Russ.

I like his conclusion and agree with it from the Word of God:

quote:

You may be thinking, “if Jesus observed it shouldn't we also?” No, we are not under that “Old Testament Law.” However the New Testament dispensation did not actually start until after Jesus’ death. He had to observe it. However the moment He died, it all changed. So, “What does the Sabbath mean?” Using God's Word, He said, “It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever.” That is exactly what it is, no more and absolutely no less.

No, we are not under that “Old Testament Law.” However the New Testament dispensation did not actually start until after Jesus’ death. He had to observe it. However the moment He died, it all changed.

1That OSAS,is a license to SIN~~~!"
2That the Sabbath is to be kept on Saturday.
3That Yahushua must be used in the place of the name JESUS.
4That the Harpazo is a lie.
5That there is no BEMA.

Daily Meditation

God’s grace has everything to do with your position in Him, your relationship with Him, your salvation in and through Him, your standing before Him, and your identity as new creation in Him. "Sleazy grace" operates not in those things, but in the deceitful workings of your behavior. ""sleazy grace"" can never accomplish what God’s grace can.

"Sleazy grace" allows you to justify your behavior; God’s grace justifies your person. "Sleazy grace" will center its focus and attention on the "things" of God, and not on God Himself. It will focus on "behavior" instead of your relationship. It concentrates on a "life-style" instead of a life of obedience.

My friend, the grace you bestow on yourself is ultimately self-centered no matter how "Godly" it may appear. So when someone says that grace is just a license to sin, that is a correct assessment of "sleazy grace." "Sleazy grace"" is grace that does not require death, that is death to the flesh and the self-life.

My friend, "the Spirit itself beareth witness with [your] spirit, that [you] are [a child] of God: and if [a child,] then [an heir]; heirs of God, and joint-heir with Christ; if it so be that [you] suffer with Him, that [you] may be also glorified together."(Romans 8:16, 17) So you see my friend, there is absolutely nothing "sleazy" about it. Yes, it's free, however, it most certainly is not "sleazy!" God has done His part and that is what makes you free, notwithstanding, you also must respond.

It wasn't and isn’t "sleazy," for anyone, because God gave His life out of love, and now, because of that, empowered by the Holy Spirit, you can do the same. Yes, you can give your life to Him, and to others in love! This is the gospel truth, the gospel of Jesus, the gospel of the Kingdom, the gospel of His "grace," all one and the same!

"Grace" cost God everything! It cost the price of his Son. How much do you think that is worth? Your life accounts for so much that God sacrificed his Son! It is mind boggling, but apparently to God, you, His sin twisted creature, are worth the sacrifice.

Grace was not "sleazy" to Jesus. It cost him His life. My friend, think for a moment what it must have been like as God incarnate, was treated like dirt. Jesus, the Second Head of the Trinity, was born a vulnerable baby. He lived a life that ultimately ended in suffering. He, the sinless one, was unjustly accused. Jesus was mocked, spit upon, cursed at, and denigrated. And He was punished for your sins.

Yes, my friend, for my sins; and your sins. He died a criminal’s death on the executionary device known as the cross. He, who knew no sin, became sin in your place and the wrath of God was poured out on Him. It cost Jesus His power, security, pride, friends, and connection to His Father. No my friend, God’s "grace" is not "sleazy"; it cost Jesus the most priceless gift, His life. And yet He still said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do."(Luke 23:34)

As His life is given to you by "grace," we then, and only then, will be able to do works that are truly good from God's perspective. Only then can you stand approved before your Heavenly Father.

"Faith," "grace," and good "works" are like a three legged stool. If any one is missing, the thing will not stand. The leg of "grace" cannot be had by itself; it comes through "faith" or never. And "grace" is not only a receptive approach to God, but also the ongoing power of God to do the right thing. God's "grace" in us, if we really have it through "faith," will always result in good "works." And James points out that your grace minus the proof of good "works," is not grace through faith, and is fundamentally flawed.

My friend, I want to make it absolutely clear that salvation is based upon "faith" alone. Going to heaven is by "faith" alone. Christianity is a religion based upon "faith" alone, not faith + works. Good works will be the result of your "faith" in Jesus and the outpouring of His "grace."

Are you a Christian? If not, why not accept Jesus as your Savior, and be just as assured or going to Heaven, as if you are already there!

Do it; you’ll never regret it!
Rev. Russ
