Hi everyone,

Another great topic as usual.

The reason people do not believe the truth is, as is explained in Romans 1, they hold-down the truth in in righteousness vs 18.

This is not surprising, because by definition, the unsaved are dead in trespasses and sins, as we ourselves were before God saved us.

Thus it is the job (or one of the jobs) of the elect to be light to the world, preaching the gospel in thought, word and deed. God will use this to save the rest of the elect and fulfill His purpose of conforming them to the image of His son, Jesus Christ.

Thanks,

Dave B.

And the way to all truth is to struggle with self to not interfere... with the revelation of the true God...

The Bible pulls no punches. And in fact records where even pillars of the faith like Moses and David and Samuel and Solomon and Peter and Paul did not do so well at times keeping that pesky personal opinion out of the way of God's pure pristine revelation...

And if they struggled with this how much more do we need to be on guard with our foolishness and selfishness!

We must not make the truth conform to us but we to the truth. That seems so basic so rudimentary as to come across as ridiculous... but few of us if any really do subscribe to it.

We like this, but not that, or we fall back on human tradition and liturgy or creeds formed by mere mortal men.

John 17 is a very interesting read. It is the real "Lord's prayer." What passes off as the Lord's prayer by the traditions of man is the disciple's prayer as taught by Jesus under the Old Covenant.

But a major theme in John 17 is the oneness of the Body of Christ.

Now look around...

Oneness or division?

Division based on human interpretation and traditions implemented... nullifying the word of God...

Mark 7:13 (NIV)
13 Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that.”

Generally speaking, the satanic infiltration of the Church (since Emperor Constantine) has not compromised the core doctrines of the Church (the deity of Christ, the Trinity doctrine, and so on) but with Oneness Pentecostalism and Christadelphianism and the rise of the cults even the core doctrines are being hammered away at.

It's high time we took a serious perspective check and looked over the thing carefully with everything on the table.

We have so paganized Christianity through the divisions and compromises after having expunged it of everything God implemented into it since he called Abraham apart (all of the feasts which all pointed to Jesus btw) and replaced them with painted eggs and bunnies and decorated trees to the point the "natural" branches (Romans 11:16-26) do not even recognize the thing and would never consider it as legitimate...

Could this perhaps be the falling away of the Church the great apostasy?

The intolerance of sound doctrine?

The surrounding ourselves with teachers who will scratch our itching ears?

Point of it all...

If it's not about the truth... why are we even bothering in the first place?

Why not eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die?

The Jewish people were called apart to usher truth into the world... the written truth (John 17:17) and truth personified (John 14:6).

John 17:17 (KJV)
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

John 14:6 (KJV)
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Of course, each person in the Godhead is truth:

John 16:13 (KJV)
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

2 Chronicles 15:3
Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.

Jeremiah 10:10
But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.

John 17:3
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

1 Thessalonians 1:9
For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

1 John 5:20
And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

The Truth is a person: the Lord Jesus Christ.
And "truth" is a revealed mystery: something that was hidden but is now revealed.

"..the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it."

Sad to say, just my observations.....the perceived truth is in a person's own paradigm, a construct they have created. Until we can honestly look at the truth (without barriers) in today's society in this time period, we are stuck.

Just my two cents.

As scarce as truth is, the supply has always been in excess of the demand.

Most folks haven't a clue.

Some folks have a clue but never peruse it any further.

And I am beginning to wonder if nearly all do not live in some form of fantasy world (fog) bumping into others in their fogs which is the only form of community / interpersonal relations they really have...

How else can there be a world of billions of lonely people?
