2Corinthians 10:5, “Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”

Have you seen on TV the “Police chase videos”. It’s interesting to watch and sad at the same time. People trying to run away from the law because of what they have done. Instead of surrendering to the law (police) peacefully, they think they can outrun the law. The more they try to outrun the law, the more they break other laws making it worse for them. You find that they are exposing other people to great danger by their reckless behavior. Something fascinating, the police will not give up chasing until they have apprehended the suspect. It doesn’t matter how long it takes, they will add more force to the chase until they’ve arrested the person. Let’s swing this to the spiritual.

The mind is powerful. The mind can create, form, imagine, expound, retain things. The eyes most of the time fuel the mind and the mind in turn retains what it has received and even make more to it than what was received or is already there. Murder, lust, depressions, confusions, fear have their roots in the mind cause the mind is very powerful. It’s one of the hardest things to control just like the tongue. The mind becomes the battle field and the target for the enemy. The scriptures talks about renewing the mind which is to take something evil out and replace it with something good. A mind left to wonder, is A WILD MIND ON THE LOOSE that goes about running from the law without yielding to the Holy Spirit to arrest it. As fast as it may try to run from the Holy Sprit, the more it’s doing damage by numbing the conscience. When Jesus spoke about lust as being adultery, it showed that how the mind has also power to commit sin. Also it’s recorded in the 6th commandment, you shall not murder, but if you hate your brother or have in your mind to murder, you have already done it in your mind even if you don’t do it physically. The mind creates a god it’s more comfortable with. A god who has no sense of moral and justice. Once again you can see that the mind is very powerful and needs control.

2Corinthians 10:5, “Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God”. Every thought that is not of God should be cast down. I would describe casting down as being able to sit on what is been trying to control you. You may NOT stop some imaginations from appearing but sure can stop them from living there. Martin Luther said, “You can’t stop birds from flying above your head, but you sure can stop them from building a nest on your head”. IMAGINE you are driving down the hill at 120MPH, suddenly you try stepping on your brakes, you discover they are not working, a head of you is a big truck you see yourself colliding with. How can you stop yourself from being killed? think about it for a sec, what options do you have to escape this horrible accident from happening? here is how to stop the accident, “STOP IMAGINING”. Remember I started with the word, “IMAGINE”. Imaginations creates worse things that haven’t even happened yet or building things that are not pure, it’s cure is to cast it down by stopping to imagine. It’s work is to try and take the place the truth about God’s word. Fear exalts itself in the mind and pushes God’s knowledge about victory out, lust exalts itself and takes out the knowledge of God on morals. The mind creates another image of God which is the false impression of who God really is and that has to be cast down.

“And bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”, you are your own police to arrest your mind (thought) from getting away. The police who are chasing will not rest until the person on the loose is apprehended so are the Christians, the mind on the loose has to be chased however far it goes, arrested, taken captive under the obedience of Christ. The mind that lusts, builds fear, confusion, frustrations has to be arrested for we all need a sound mind. A mind on the loose without control will do more damage not just to him/herself but to others too. 2Tim 1:7, For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Bible does not just talk about having a mind, but a sound mind, a mind under control, a mind that meditates on good things accepted by God. We all have warranty to arrest the mind, what are you doing about it?
