WHY?

One plane falls from the sky, lands gently on the water and the lives of every soul on board is spared. All were rescued and returned to thankful family and friends.

Another plane falls from the sky, lands hard upon the ground and the lives of every soul on board is lost. None were rescued and returned to mourning family and friends.

One plane crash becomes a day of joy, happiness, and of celebration, but is soon marred by another crash that leaves only pain and sorrow. Lives saved and lives lost on two separate occasions. Some are asking “why” and where was God’s intervention for the second plane crash.
Many people saw the touched-up photo displayed on the news showing two hands holding each wing of one plane and gently setting it down on the Hudson River. People came away from this scene giving God all the credit, thanking Him for their very lives.
There were no such edited photos of the next plane, only the graphic, flaming pictures that were in stark contrast to the first plane. Was God given any credit or thanks after this accident or was He given the blame? Many are asking why God allows such terrible things to happen to his people. In the same respect why did He allow the other plane to land safely on the water? God’s ways are not our ways and His ways are certainly above ours.
I don’t know of a simple answer that would help quiet anguished minds but I do know that God loved every person on both planes. God’s love does not exempt us from life’s dangers and dilemmas, but it does mean that we will have the ability to continue living in the midst of them. Though trouble remains with us throughout our lives, God gives us the strength to face them until they gradually fade. We possess family and things for only a short time.
Every thing fades and passes away except the soul of a person. The bible tells us that God formed man out of the dust of the ground and he breathed the breath of life into mans nostrils. Man became a living soul and his soul will remain in a conscious state throughout eternity. The human soul will live forever. Scripture also tells us that we will see our loved ones again when Jesus returns to take his people home. Although they may be gone while we yet remain, we are and they are still under God’s care and love.
The bible tells us in Romans chapter 8 (NLT), (vs. 35)“Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or are hungry or cold or in danger or threatened with death?
(vs.37) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
(vs.38) And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels can’t, and the demons can’t. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can’t keep God’s love away.
(vs.39) Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. “
Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will give us later, Romans 8:18 (NLT).
Tragedies have become everyday occurrences somewhere on this planet. Every person is affected but mostly when they strike close to home and in our hearts. We will lose loved ones and they and we have no choice in how or when that will happen. Friends, the greatest tragedy of all that man will ever suffer is to spend eternity apart from God. Christians have a responsibility to everyone, especially those close to us, to share the good news about Jesus Christ and how he died for their sins. If they accept Him as their Lord, and if a tragedy strikes we can take solace in knowing that their soul is with Him always. So tell someone about Jesus and pray that God will adopt him or her into his family. Tell them today before its too late.
