The Last Trumpet of 1 Corinthians 15:52 and the Seventh Trumpet of Revelation 11:15 must be the Same Trumpet
1 Corinthians 15:52 states that the Christians living on earth when the last trumpet sounds will be changed from mortal to immortal, at the last trumpet:
15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
But what is that last trumpet? In Revelation 8:2, there are also seven trumpets given to seven angels:
8:2 And I saw the seven angels who stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.
The first of these seven trumpets is sounded in Rev.8:7, the second is sounded in Rev.8:8, the third is sounded in Rev.8:10; the fourth trumpet is sounded in Rev.8:12, the fifth is sounded in Rev.9:1, the sixth is sounded in Rev.9:13, and the seventh trumpet is first mentioned at Rev.10:7, but then the seventh trumpet is not sounded until Rev.11:15.
Obviously, of these seven trumpets, the first six trumpets cannot be the last of these seven trumpets, and obviously only the seventh trumpet can even be considered to be a last trumpet.
But is this seventh trumpet of Revelation 8 through 11 the same trumpet as the last trumpet of 1Cor.15:52, which said:
15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
What is the possibility that the last trumpet of 1Cor.15:52 is the same trumpet as the seventh trumpet of Rev.10:7 and Rev.11:15?
At the sounding of the last trumpet in 1Cor.15:52, we are changed from mortal to immortal, meaning that we receive our eternal bodies then with which we shall reign with Christ upon the earth.
That fits with what happens when the seventh trumpet of Rev.11:15 sounds, because then the kingdoms of the earth become the kingdoms of the Lord:
11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, the kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign forever and ever.
Since the kingdoms of the earthbecame the kingdoms of our Lord when the seventh trumpet sounds in Rev.11:15, does it not then follow that we Christians will at that time also begin reigning with Him as kings upon the earth? It certainly would seem so.
Rev.10:7 also mentions this seventh trumpet which is actually sounded in Rev.11:15, and in Rev.10:7 are added these two details:
10:7 In the days of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as He has declared to His servants the prophets.
The first detail added by Rev.10:7 is that the mystery of God should be finished when this seventh trumpet of Rev.10:7/Rev.11:15 sounds.
And the second detail which Rev.10:7 adds is the phrase, as declared to the prophets.
Now, since the mystery of God will be finished when the seventh trumpet sounds in Rev.10:7/11:15, then also all that has been declared to the prophets must be FINISHED.
The word finished of Rev.10:7 is the Greek word teleo {Strong’s 5055} which is the same word which the Lord Jesus used on the cross in John 19:30, saying, “It is finished” {Greek, teleo}.
This Greek word teleo means completely done and nothing else remains to be done. Hal Lindsey put it this way, “Teleo means the debt has been paid in full, is cancelled”.
Therefore, when the seventh trumpet sounds in Rev.11:15, the mystery of God must be completely finished, as He declared to the prophets.
To put this phrase, as declared to the prophets, graphically:
JOEL must be fulfilled when this 7th trumpet sounds in Rev.11:15.
ISAIAH must be fulfilled when this 7th trumpet sounds in Rev.11:15.
ZECHARIAH must be fulfilled when this 7th trumpet sounds in Rev.11:15.
JEREMIAH must be fulfilled when this 7th trumpet sounds in Rev.11:15.
EZEKIEL must be fulfilled when this 7th trumpet sounds in Rev.11:15.
DANIEL must be fulfilled when this 7th trumpet sounds in Rev.11:15.
And also, what of the rest of Revelation? If the kingdoms of the world already become the kingdoms of our Lord in Revelation 11:15, what then happens to Revelation 12 through Revelation 22? Where will be placed them if the mystery is already finished in Rev.11:15?
Since the mystery of God is already finished in Revelation 11:15, this shows one very important thing: THE BOOK OF REVELATION CANNOT BE CONSECUTIVE, but SOME OF ITS CHAPTERS MUST BE CONCURRENT.
That is, Revelation chapters 12 through 22 must somehow have already happened before Rev.11:15 occurs when the kingdoms of the world become the kingdoms of our Lord, and because by Rev.11:15 the mystery of God is already teleo or finished.
This shows that the book of Revelation is written in a style which is known as a chiasm. This is a style of writing also known as a step-ladder, in which one side of the step-ladder reveals certain things about the entire plan, and the other side of the step-ladder reveals more things about the same entire plan.
In the case of the book of Revelation, Rev.11:15 is the top of the step-ladder and is the chiasmic divider of the book of Revelation.
But under NO circumstances can the book of Revelation be consecutive; REMEMBER Rev.11:15:
11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign forever and ever”.
