In the beginning God provided all of the food that all of his creatures, including "man", would need for their nourishment (see Gen 1:29-30. And all of the created world and its systems was "good". There apparently wasn't anything to hamper God's providential and loving care of his creation.

"Man" was in charge, and all that he (Adam and Eve) had to do in God's garden was to "work it and take care of it" (Gen 1:15). This was to be a matter of faith, trusting God every day to provide his creatures with their daily needs.

But this relationship of faith and trust was broken when Adam and Eve rebelled against God and disobeyed his command. Part of the consequences of this sinful rebellion was God's curse upon the ground and his judgment that Adam and Eve and their decendants would have to get their daily food by the "sweat of your brow" (Gen 4:17-19).

So God's initial plans to meet the needs of all of his creatures were damaged and changed by man's sin. And man ever since hasn't done very well in taking care of God's created world and distributing its food to all of his creatures. This failure of our stewardship is one part of God's final judgment (see Matt. 25:35, 42, and 44-45). Hunger is not God's problem; it is a sign of our problem.

Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
Psalm 119:160 (KJV)

The word judgments is derived from the Hebrew word meaning “to judge.” God has given decisions that are like the calls of a referee or the legal rulings of a judge; He has rendered judgments on what is acceptable behavior and what actions will receive His blessing. God is the Judge over all, and His decisions establish true justice.

What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” It does not, therefore, depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden. One of you will say to me: “Then why does God still blame us? For who resists his will?” But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’ “Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use?

Romans 9:14 through Romans 9:21 (NIV)

So is someone here saying that each tribe on earth has their own god and let their god feed them then?

And can it be said that if the God of Israel be the Living God, that His children are fed at a better table than all the other gods can feed their tribes?

Or are the tribes working the land themselves and by human effort they can extract food from the earth, like after Adam and Eve were removed from the garden of Eden?

Because their gods be no gods if the God of Israel is the Living God, so that they must be feeding themselves.

Or does the Living God have a basic responsibility to at least feed everyone to some extent?

Or are all the tribes without the Living God only working in their own human power to get food, without the extra blessings that might attend those who also love and known the Living God?

I don't like the "God Bless America" bumper stickers.

My wife and I prefer the "America Bless God" stickers.

Go for it.

My youngest daughter, too, has to test things out before realizing that "Daddy was right all along". I still love her to pieces. [Wink]

Near where I live a prominent "Christian" college endorses a lot of liberal thinking. For instance, they promote the idea that a more Biblical form of government is "Socialism" not "democracy". While their rationale is not completely without merit they forgot one important fact: without God people rule terribly. With that in mind a perfect Biblical government is a theocracy wherein Jesus Christ is Lord.

They also espouse a deep hatred for the Jewish people. It's masked in "intellectual fairness" to the people who call themselves "Palestinians" but it's there. At least I see it.

Anyway, to your point, from this college a certain style of thinking emerges. This style of think prompts a certain kind of bumper sticker that reads:

"God bless everyone. No exceptions." (This statement was an obvious diatribe against the "God Bless America" phrase.)

To which my wife, upon seeing the sticker noted, "You know, that is more correct, is it not?"

"No," I said.

"What do you mean?" she asked.

"Let them ask for it. If they want God's blessing let them ask for it." I said.

"Why is that important?" she asked (I'm paraphrasing here)

"A person cannot at one hand worship Bael, Molek, or Kahli, sacrifice their children to their religion (Islam, etc.) and expect to receive God's blessing at the same time. If they want the one True God's blessing let them ask for it. Certainly it's available to them if they ask but they have to heed the Holy Spirit's call for repentance."

The bible verse at the top of the BBS now reads....

But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort. Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep. Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets. - Luke 6:24-26

I sure hope its not God´s responsibility, otherwise he´d be failing miserably.

I think the responsibilty falls on the people "who have". A very unpopular view I´m sure in this far right political environment on these boards... but a few obersvations...

God´s not feeding everyone.
The poor cannot feed themselves.
The rich have the resources to feed the world, but they are not. Maybe because they don´t see it as their responsibility.

But its not so simple... if you go to an area where people are breeding at 10 or more kids per family rates more needs to be done on the education side too. Education does mean more than giving them a bible and a study guide too.

But when you sit in your nice air conditioned house, typing away on your computer in your nice office chair, backed by numerous levels of government that will help you if you need it, its hard to develop a really sense of empathy.

We have eyes, but we can´t see.

First of all Satan, the god of this world, is not under any obligation to do anything.

I don't think that the Bible says that God will feed us. I believe we are all provided with the means of being feed. But God doesn't put the spoon in our mouth, doesn't pick the apple from the tree, doesn't kill the deer and bring it to us, he doesn't plant the field or harvest it. We'll He has done some of this, but has not obligated himself to do so. Then it is up to us to use the means that are available to feed our selves. I do think that as christians, it is our duty to help those who can't help themselves and I think alot of the starving that is occuring the world is due to man limiting the ability of some feeding themselves, or limiting others from helping those that need help being fed.

It's not God's duty to ensure that everyone has enough to eat, it is Man's duty. There is more than enough food in the world to feed everyone. The reason that some people have little or no food is that we (yes, you and me as well, we are responsible as well) are greedy and selfish, and do not share the enormous wealth that we have.

For example, I heard quoted by Oxfam the other day that the amount of money spent by the US and UK in the first year of the Iraq war is enough to ensure that everyone in Africa had enough clean water to live.

Is the God of Israel not also the God over the whole earth?

And if what you say is true, that He only feeds those who love Him, why then does the Bible say the following,

Matthew 5:45
That you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven: for He makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and He sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Matthew 5:48
Be you therefore perfect, even as your Father who is in heaven is perfect.

If God let's His sun to shine on the evil and the good, and sends His rain on both, does God not feed all the people?

Luke 12

27Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

28If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?

29And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.

30For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

But here is some truth to substantiate what you said,

Luke 12

31But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.

But if God sends the rain and the sun on the evil and the good and on the just and on the unjust, does He not feed everyone at least some fast food"? Or is it the Devil's job to feed his own people?

Matthew 5:44
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

Is it God's duty to feed everybody, or is it part the Devil's duty?

The world has a god that is NOT GOD. It is not GOD's duty to feed the people of the god of this world who is not and cannot be GOD.

It is GOD's duty to show that HE ALONE IS GOD, that the JUST be convicted of their sin and repent and be saved, and that the UNJUST be convinced of their sin that they be justly condemned.

That just condemnation includes the god of this world... who thinks that he can be GOD, but in th e end, having been given every opportunity to do so, he fails, as he is a spoiler and devourer of his own subjects.. in the end he cannot be god, because he is not GOD.. he is a liar and a murderer.

Eden

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Is it man's duty to follow God, or to follow any pathway which seems right in their own sight?

Did God promise food for the world?

Did Jesus promise to feed all that were hungry, or those who come to Him?

Did Jesus set-up food pantries with the "loaves and fishes" or did He feed those who came to hear Him?

Romans 14:
17: For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Why is there sin in the world when Christ paid the price for all who will come?

Matt. 6:
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
