the serpent had already given his answer in the previous earth age -

Ecc 6:10 That which hath been is named already, and it is known that it is man: neither may he contend with him that is mightier than he.

the 5 "I will"'s of Satan:

Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
Isa 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart,
I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:
I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Isa 14:14
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;
I will be like the most High.

Isa 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Isa 14:16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

No. I just think that Satan only gets gratification when souls go to hell. I do not think evil spirits or satan are able to be motivated by human desires. They are just very adept at getting humans to be tempted by their own fleshly desires.

Hi Linda

Two things I want for you to think;

The first one is the serpent been embody by Satan, so did Judas. Know pause for a minute and think that Satan was able or aloud to embody an animal! Also why a serpent!
Peter was embody or enter by Satan to cause or to try to stop Jesus from getting to Calvary, even do Satan had also been inside Judas.

The second one is the serpent was judge for her beguiled so was Judas for his betrayal.
God made swift judgment on the serpent and Judas why not in Peter and Adam? Even do Peter and Adam suffer the consequence?

Back to work, I have a lot of product in the floor to put up.

Rick Joyner has a book called "There were 2 Trees in the Garden."

He relates the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and evil as the works of the flesh. This can also translate into legalism for those who are in the church.

The Tree of the knowledge of good and evil is man trying to to it himself without God.

Wow MAC, I have studied these chapters in Genesis a lot, but you asked some hard questions that I really have had to think about. I will take a stab at your questions, but I will be very honest with you; I am not sure of my answers.... here goes:

Questions:

quote:
1. Why a Tree of knowledge (potentially with the ability to use it for a specific purpose) of good and evil?
The tree of knowledge has always been of interest to me, Mac. I see that Adam and Eve knew good already. They knew God. The scripture says that ONLY God is good. They also knew each other; now the scripture says that they were naked and not ashamed. They had the IMAGE OF GOD, who is good... so when they saw each other what they saw looked like God who was good. Nothing of shame there. Once they ate, they were now naked and ashamed... so much so that they tried to cover their nakedness with fig leaves and hide from God. What I think that they gained knowledge of was that they, though they looked like HIM, were not GoD, and thus not good.

I believe that the tree of knowledge made them to see them selves as they were, and it made them ashamed because in comparison to God they were shameful.... God can create something to look like him, but God can not create God, because God has no beginning. This is why we needed to be born of God, that his goodness would be in us and we could stand in his presence without shame. (1 Corinthians 15:28 speaks of God all in all) (1 John 3:2 say that when he comes we will be like him and we will see him as he is.) (1 Corinthians 13:12 says that we now see in the mirror darkly, but when we are face to face, we will KNOW as we are KNOWN)

All those voices tell me that when perfect is come, we will know fullness of what HE has done in transforming us into the image of HIS son from the inside out so to speak. We are known as sons of the living God... no shame.

Do you get what I am saying?

So I see that the tree of knowledge was a tree that showed man what he was and that he was not good like GOD. Thus he was evil and shameful. It was not the eating that killed them, but the word of God that said "In the DAY that you eat you shall surely die." Why on earth would God say that knowing that they would indeed eat one day? I believe because he loved them, and in HIS mercy and love, he never intended them to live forever with shame come from their knowledge. Note that God did not say if you eat... he said "In the day that you eat" so dont eat.

quote:
2. Why God did not asked the serpent “why have thou done this”?
I dont think that God asked the Serpent, because God knew that the serpent could not answer. You see the serpent believe that he can be GOD, and the serpent has now had 6k years plus to do everything that he can to be God and his time is almost out and he will have by the time he is escorted to the lake of fire proven to himself that he is not and cannot be God, and this will then allow God to execute his sentence justly.

The acts that the serpent committed were acts of what the serpent saw as godship if you will, but the problem is that the serpent is not god and cannot be and consequently ends up destroying the very subjects that if he were god, he would be responsible for the care and preservation of.

quote:
3. Why a answer from the serpent is not recorded!
He did not have one.

quote:
Adam answer was Eve.
Eve answer was the serpent.
Serpent answer was ?

Silence

quote:
Rember that the serpent was able to speak! why God did not asked the serpent for a answer?

Would the answer from the serpent tip the balance of redemtion to further evil and good knowledge from the tree?

I dont know, but I picture it would be as if Moses said to Pharoah "Let My People Go." and Pharoah said.... "Oh, ok sure thing right now sir!" Impossible - The serpent believed he could be God.

quote:
What comparison has Peter with the serpent?
This one really made me think; But when I thought I was astounded. Was it that the serpent denied God 3 times? Once when he said: "Ye shall not surely die" - This was a direct and complete denial of God's word and authority; and then again..."5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." - He profeses here to have the knowledge of God - thus denying God is God and exhalting himself - and then here while it is not stated it is shown in the fact that he beguilled eve and God did not even ask him why-

13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14 ¶ And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this,

In the beguilling of Eve, he took authority over thier lives, because he caused their death... the ceasing of life from this earth is a power that is only held by God - but in reality the serpent took their lives.

So is that it... The serpent denied God 3 times as Peter denied Jesus 3 times?

quote:
What comparison has Judas with the serpent?
Again this is a stab... a guess. I would say that Judas betrayed innocent blood and brought upon himself a curse and so did the serpent.

I dont know how I did, but I loved the challenge to think on these things. I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts on these questions you have asked.

In Genesis chapter 3 I notice something that have caught my attention and I would like to share this with you. Let us take a look at these verses;

Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Gen 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
Gen 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Gen 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
Gen 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
Gen 3:9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
Gen 3:10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
Gen 3:11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
Gen 3:12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
Gen 3:13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
Gen 3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
Gen 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
Gen 3:18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
Gen 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Gen 3:20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

We read in chapter 2:16 a commandment from God not to eat of the fruit, we know come to chapter 3 and we read that the serpent is overwriting the commandment God have told Adam to follow. (And he “serpent” said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?). in verse 2 we read that the woman tells the serpent this words (Gen 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
Gen 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.).
Remember that all this is taking place after the Sabbath! The woman been beguiled eat and touch the fruit and give some to Adam. We know from this point forth that Spititual death have come to the human race.

Know God comes and the fist thing He does is to call Adam not Eve but Adam, Adam seen his nakedness (death) hide from God. Adam told God “I heard Thy voice” there is something about the voice of God when man hears it they are afraid and hide! God asked Adam “hast thou eaten of the tree, wherefore I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?”. Then the Lord God asked the woman “ what is this that thou have done!”

We read these words from God:

To Adam;

Gen 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
Gen 3:18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
Gen 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

To Eve;

Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

To Serpent;

Questions:

1. Why a Tree of knowledge (potentially with the ability to use it for a specific purpose) of good and evil?
2. Why God did not asked the serpent “why have thou done this”?
3. Why a answer from the serpent is not recorded!

Adam answer was Eve.
Eve answer was the serpent.
Serpent answer was ?

Rember that the serpent was able to speak! why God did not asked the serpent for a answer?
Would the answer from the serpent tip the balance of redemtion to further evil and good knowledge from the tree?

What comparison has Peter with the serpent?
What comparison has Judas with the serpent?
