Isaiah 3:9 The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.
Jeremiah 23:14 I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.
Ezekiel 16:49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

"the government of the day" was the all-powerful warlord-king of the city-state and his family members who did as they pleased, and they probably were sodomites themselves.
Genesis 19:4

The difference between the days of Noah and the latter days, the sin that was in like manner of Sodom and G. is that in the latter days, the seed will mix - but they will not cleave with the daughters of men, and the daughters of men will not cleave to them.
Have we heard of anything like this since Israel was born a nation in a day? Any kind of genetic experimentation, or counterfit of those Ez1. 4, or any 'abducties' or anything remotely similar to Bible prophecy?
Smith's Bible Dictionary has the following to say:
Sodomites, The
Sod'omites, The. This word does not denote the inhabitants of Sodom; but it is employed in the Authorized Version of the Old Testament, for those who practiced, as a religious rite, the abominable and unnatural vice, from which the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah have derived their lasting infamy.
the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.

Gen 14:2 That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.
Gen 14:3 All these were joined together in the vale of Siddim, which is the salt sea.
Gen 14:4 Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
Gen 14:5 And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim,
Gen 14:6 And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto El-paran, which is by the wilderness.
Gen 14:7 And they returned, and came to En-mishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezon-tamar.
These are mostly names associated with fallen angelic beings having left their own oikētērion, as well as their posterity.
It has been a large help for me to employee the Hebrew concept of replacing all former names by the meaning of their names, as they do tell the tale, names have the meanings which are masked from the more obscure former names to us gentiles.

I certainly believe so. We certainly can see the vile escalation through every medium - the internet, TV. movies, etc. - Sodom and Gomorrah are likened to Babylon and Rev. says that during the tribulation Babylon will be destroyed.
Revelation 14:8 A second angel followed and said, "Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great, which made all the nations drink the maddening wine of her adulteries."
Revelation 16:19 The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon the Great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath.
Revelation 17:5 This title was written on her forehead: Mystery Babylon The Great Mother of Prostitutes of the Abomination of the Earth.
Revelation 18:2 With a mighty voice he shouted: "Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great! She has become a home for demons and a haunt for every evil spirit, a haunt for every unclean and detestable bird.
Revelation 18:10 Terrified at her torment, they will stand far off and cry: " 'Woe! Woe, O great city, O Babylon, city of power! In one hour your doom has come!'
Revelation 18:21 Then a mighty angel picked up a boulder the size of a large millstone and threw it into the sea, and said: "With such violence the great city of Babylon will be thrown down, never to be found again.
