Jesus was fully human AND fully God. It was His human life that was sacrificed. And He did so willingly. It was no un-planned event. It was God's plan from the beginning.

Like a sheep led to the slaughter, our Lord and Savior, willing gave His life. Maybe the hardest thing He had to do was stay on the cross, when with just a thought, He could have been in Heaven and all mankind destroyed. betty

A short answer would be Jesus allowed Himself to be killed. Jesus could have stopped it at any time but He let Himself be killed by man in order to pay the penilty for our sins. Praise and thanks to God

Hebrews 2:14 Because God's children are human beings--made of flesh and blood--Jesus also became flesh and blood by being born in human form. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the Devil, who had the power of death
BTW Watcher, I get what you mean.

God's Word says Jesus WAS killed.
Mark 8:31 (31) And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be KILLED, and after three days rise again.
Mark 9:31 (31) For He was teaching His disciples and telling them, "The Son of Man is to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will KILL Him; and when He has been KILLED, He will rise three days later."
1 Thessalonians 2:14-16 (14) For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are in Judea, for you also endured the same sufferings at the hands of your own countrymen, even as they did from the Jews, (15) who both KILLED the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out. They are not pleasing to God, but hostile to all men, (16) hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved; with the result that they always fill up the measure of their sins. But wrath has come upon them to the utmost.
My brother Raj - keep up the great work God is doing thru you in India.
It must be difficult being a shinging light for Jesus in a country like India.
I bet it builds your faith up strong.
Stay bold for Christ my brother.
I'll be praying for you.

If Jesus is God how He can be killed?
a) Even before Jesus was actually arrested, they tried to catch Him. The Scripture says that He disappeared (Jn 8:59, 12:36). Jesus could have disappeared similarly even at Gethsemane where He was arrested. But, Jesus Christ voluntarily submitted Himself for crucifixion, because God the Father wished to bring salvation to the sinners and acquit them through the crucifixion (Lev 17:11, Heb 9:22, Rev 1:6, Acts 20:28, 1 Tim 1:15, Rom 5:8, 1 Pet 1:19). Pilate the governor said to Jesus, “Do You not know that I have power to crucify You and power to release You?”. Jesus answered, “You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above” (Jn 19:10,11). What a great personality is Jesus! His death was not something accidental. It was purely prophetical.
b) Jesus told “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but, I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down and have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father” (Jn 10:17,18). Please understand the supernatural personality of Jesus.
c) When the soldiers came to arrest Jesus, Peter, one among the disciples of Jesus, pulled his sword from him and cut off the ear of a servant of the chief priest. Immediately Jesus said to him, “Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword, or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with 12 legions of angles? How then could the scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?” (Mat 26:51-54). Please notice the superiority of Jesus.
d) Nothing would happen without the knowledge of Jesus. He is ominiscient (Jn 16:30).
1. Jesus foretold that Judas Iscariot would betray Him.
Now as they sat and ate, Jesus said, “Assuredly I say to you one of you who eats with Me will betray Me (Mk 14:18).
2. Jesus prophesied that Peter would deny Him. Jesus said to him (Peter),
“Assuredly, I say to you that today even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times (Mk 14:30).
3. Jesus predicted the day and the time of His arrest.
Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written, “I will strike the Shepherd and the sheep will be scattered” (Mk 14:27, Mat 20:18,19).
4. Jesus foretold that He would be arrested, and crucified and resurrected on the third day.
“Behold we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes, and they will condemn Him to death, and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify. And the third day He will rise gain (Mat 20:18,19).
5. When they came to arrest Him, they drew back by His power and fell to the ground (Jn 18:6)
6. Jesus envisaged that all His disciples will leave Him alone.
“Indeed, the hour is coming, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me (Jn 16:32).
7. Jesus foretold that He would undergo that painful ldeath because of the pre-determination of God (Lk 22:22).
8. Prophet Daniel prophesied that Christ would be crucified (Dan 9:26)
