My mother-in-law is in the same predicament in a Baptist church.

Prior to attending the Baptist church (where she thought she'd get some good preaching), she was in a Methodist church that eventually split for the reasons you mention above.

The Methodists are not only dealing with the homosexual issue, but there are "believers" who are getting into Sophia worship also.

My mom's dad was Church of Christ but he would be turning in his grave at the thought of what they are doing now.

We need to pray that churches will go by the Bible and not by what they feel is popular.

This is so sad, don't even know why they want to call it a Church.

Well, just because it got Christ in the name of the church, don't make it Christ's church.

"The United Church of Christ" = The United Church of Satan...

Amen Sister Betty!!!

These heretics in the halls of Bible Colleges/seminaries, are turning-out so many compromised pastors, wolves in sheep's clothing. A large portion of the leadership in the UMC is compromised. There are a number of lay leadership, such as our Dear Brother Gary, who are standing against the wave of apostasy in the UMC, but so often they feel like the little Dutch Boy with his finger in the Dike. I know that Gary has told how he often teaches his adult Sunday School class, and then does not even go to Service because of the liberalism from the pulpit. The Methodist Bishops are prejudiced against Bible-believing Pastors, and so those true men of God are being weeded-out and shoved aside in favor of the heretics.

1 Peter 4:
17: For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

One of the clearest prophesies concerning the End Times is about the Apostasy of the Church.
(2 Th 2:3, 4 KJV) "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God."

Why do the Preachers have more doubts than the laypeople? I believe it is the Bible Schools? I have talked to several people who have gone to Bible School and some who had kids go to Bible School and what is being taught there would break a Christian’s heart. Our Bible Study's daughter dropped out of Bible School and went to secular school, because when she had her interview with the instructor for the classes she needed for her major, he told her he preferred she did not take his classes. When she asked him why, he said, to her that he could tell that she took the Bible literally. He said over the years when students took his class felt the Bible was to be taken literally, that they became upset at his teaching. Therefore he preferred students who saw the Bible as literature but not actual truth. She ended up going to a secular school because she and her parents decided that is was not worth it to pay so much more for the school and still get bad Bible training.
Our Sunday school teacher last year said that he had to stay prayed up and studied up to keep his faith through years of being taught by atheist in a Bible School. He said parents send their children to a Christian school, thinking it will enhance their faith and are surprised when they come home no longer believing in God. These schools are turning out agnostic and atheist preachers. It is very sad.

I agree Sis. Its like the old story about the frog in a pan of cold water. The water is heated slowly and the frog keeps swimming around unaware. By the time he gets cooked its too late.

By slowly and gradually undermining God's Word, over the last 150 years, (beginning with the higher schools of Biblical criticism), and bringing His truths into question, the unwary have been slowly led further and further astray. The water is boiling and they just sit there in those padded pews smiling and a grinning, and their goose is slowly being cooked.

From my "Blind Lead" thread:

The report says that if committed Anglicans are clear about one thing it is the existence of God: 97 per cent have no hesitation in affirming His existence. Yet, it contyinues, one in 33 clerics doubts the existence of God. If reflected throughout the Church’s 9,000 clergy the finding would mean that nearly 300 Church of England clergy are uncertain that God exists.

Equal numbers of clergy and laity, eight out of ten, believe in the bodily resurrection of Christ but more laity than clergy believe in the Virgin Birth — 62 per cent compared with 60 per cent — and in the miracle where Jesus turned water into wine — 65 per cent compared with 61 per cent. The biggest division comes over the issue of homosexuality. One third of clergy are in favour of the ordination of practising homosexuals as priests, compared with one quarter of laity. Nearly one third of clergy also support the ordination of gay bishops, but among the laity this falls to fewer than one fifth.

Whereas 56 per cent of the laity believe that it is wrong for people of the same gender to have sex together, the proportion falls to 48 per cent among the clergy. The Anglican Church hasbeen brought to the brink of a schism over homosexuality, and the survey shows it to be at risk of further unrest.

“In many ways ordained Anglicans look out on to a somewhat different world from the world viewed by lay Anglicans,” says the 180-page report, Fragmented Faith?. “Overall, it is the faultline between the clergy and the committed laity on the issue of homosexuality which may take the Church of England most by surprise.”

1 John 2:
18: Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
19: They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
20: But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
21: I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
22: Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
23: Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

God bless you Sis;

The apostasy is happening across a large number of established denominations. The United Methodist Church was just rife with schism over a confessed lesbian pastor, in the NW Conference. They removed her as pastor but did not strip her credentials, and she is still active in her church.

The Episcopal Church, the American Baptist Conference, the Society of Friends, are just a few off the top of my head, who are becoming or are already "affirming" churches in regards to homosexuality. They also happen to be very liberal and consider God's Word to be open to interpretation, and the newest translations arbitrarily more reliable. The Seminary Professors affiliated with these denominations are turning-out pastors who are also social/Biblical liberals. God's Word is being denigrated from the leadership of many denominations.

2 Tim. 3:
1: This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2: For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3: Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4: Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5: Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6: For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7: Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8: Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
9: But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
10: But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
11: Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
12: Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
13: But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
14: But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15: And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

United Church of Christ, what a BIG SLAP IN THE FACE OF JESUS AND GOD THE FATHER. The scripture is clear that mariage is between a man and woman! AND IT SPEAKS AND RULES THAT HOMOSEXUAL ACTS ARE AN ABOMINATION.

UCC should be printed as United Church of christ. The Christ I worship does not advocate homesexuality.

The United Church of Christ, and the Church of Christ, UCC vs. COC are two different denominations with great differences in faith and practice.

The UCC is very liberal and affirming, with an intellectual emphasis upon social activism. They have ordained homosexuals since the '70s.

The United Church of Christ Coalition for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Concerns is officially recognized by the United Church of Christ as a related, self-created organization.

The work of The Coalition is focused on three primary areas:

* Creating and supporting Open and Affirming (ONA) settings within the United Church of Christ
* Supporting youth and young adults and those who work with them
* Local chapter organizing and outreach
United Church of Christ
General Synod Resolution, 1985
Calling on United Church of Christ Congregations to Declare Themselves Open and Affirming

Adopted by General Synod XV, UCC, Ames, Iowa, July 2, 1985

Whereas, the Apostle Paul said that, as Christians, we are many members, but we are one body in Christ (Rom. 12:4), and Jesus calls us to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mk. 12:31) without being judgmental (Mt. 7:1-2) nor disparaging of others (Lk. 18:9-14); and

Whereas, recognizing that many persons of lesbian, gay and bisexual orientation are already members of the church through baptism and confirmation and that these people have talents and gifts to offer the United Church of Christ, and that the UCC has historically affirmed a rich diversity in its theological and biblical perspectives; and

Whereas, the Tenth through Fourteenth General Synods have adopted resolutions encouraging the inclusion, and affirming the human rights, of lesbian, gay and bisexual people within the UCC; and

Whereas, the Executive Council of the United Church of Christ adopted in 1980 "a program of Equal Employment Opportunity which does not discriminate against any employee or applicant because of...sexual orientation"; and

Whereas, many parts of the church have remained conspicuously silent despite the continuing injustice of institutionalized discrimination, instances of senseless violence and setbacks in civil rights protection by the Supreme Court; and

Whereas, the church has often perpetuated discriminatory practices and has been unwilling to affirm the full humanness of clergy, laity and staff with lesbian, gay and bisexual orientation, who experience isolation, ostracism and fear of (or actual) loss of employment; and

Whereas, we are called by Christ's example, to proclaim release to the captives and set at liberty the oppressed (Lk. 4:18); and

Whereas, examples of covenant of Openness and Affirmation and Non-discrimination Policy may be found in the following:

Example 1:
COVENANT OF OPENNESS AND AFFIRMATION
We know, with Paul, that as Christians, we are many members, but are one body in Christ-members of one another, and that we all have different gifts. With Jesus, we affirm that we are called to love our neighbors as ourselves, that we are called to act as agents of reconciliation and wholeness within the world and within the church itself.

We know that lesbian, gay, and bisexual people are often scorned by the church, and devalued and discriminated against both in the church and in society. We commit ourselves to caring and concern for lesbian, gay and bisexual sisters and brothers by affirming that:

* we believe that lesbian, gay and bisexual people share with all others the worth that comes from being unique individuals;
* we welcome gay, lesbian and bisexual people to join our congregation in the same spirit and manner used in the acceptance of any new members;
* we recognize the presence of ignorance, fear and hatred in the church and in our culture, and covenant to not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, nor any other irrelevant factor, and we seek to include and support those who, because of this fear and prejudice, find themselves in exile from a spiritual community;
* we seek to address the needs and advocate the concerns of lesbian, gay and bisexual people in our church and in society by actively encouraging church instrumentalities and secular governmental bodies to adopt and implement policies of non-discrimination; and
* we join together as a covenantal community, to celebrate and share our common communion and the reassurance that we are indeed created by God, reconciled by Christ and empowered by the grace of the Holy Spirit.

Example #2:
INCLUSIVE NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY
We do not discriminate against any person, group or organization in hiring, promotion, membership, appointment, use of facility, provision of services or funding on the basis of race, gender, age, sexual orientation, faith, nationality, ethnicity, marital status, or physical disability.

THEREFORE, the Fifteenth General Synod of the United Church of Christ encourages a policy of non-discrimination in employment, volunteer service and membership policies with regard to sexual orientation; encourages associations, Conferences and all related organizations to adopt a similar policy; and encourages the congregations of the United Church of Christ to adopt a non-discrimination policy and a Covenant of Openness and Affirmation of persons of lesbian, gay and bisexual orientation within the community of faith.

))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

The COC is very conservative and declares baptism necessary for salvation.

No creed other than the Bible.

* II Timothy 3:16-17 The Scriptures furnish a man unto all good works. II Peter 1:3 It gives all things that pertain unto life and godliness.
* The New Testament was the apostles' creed.
* The churches of the New Testament were governed without human creeds. The same can be done now.

Speak where the Bible speaks and be silent where the Bible is silent.

* II Peter 4:11 It speaks as the oracles of God. II Timothy 1:13 It holds fast the form of sound words. Galatians 1:9 It teaches nothing as doctrine that the apostles did not preach.
* We must teach and practice all the truth: nothing more nothing less.
* We are not to go beyond the truth as revealed in the New Testament. II John 9

We plead for the unity of all believers in Christ upon the basis
of the Word of God and the one Body.

* John 17:20-21 Jesus prayed for all to be one.
* I Corinthians 1:10 Paul pleaded for us to "all speak the SAME thing".
* Ephesians 4:4-7 There is one body and the body is the church. Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18
* It is undenominational has no membership in any human organization.
* Its members are in no organization other than the one to which the Lord adds the saved. Acts 2:47

Worship in the pattern established in the New Testament.

* "in spirit" (with sincerity) and "in truth" (as the word of God directs) John 4:24
* We oppose all item of worship not authorized in the New Testament. Matthew 15:9 The unauthorized is vain worship. Acts 2:42 the Church is to continue steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine.
* The worship of the early church consisted of:
1. Singing- Ephesians 5:19; Hebrews 2:12 & 13:15
2. Giving- I Corinthians 16:1-2; II Corinthians 9:7
3. Teaching/preaching - Acts 20:7
4. Lord's supper - Acts 20:7; I Corinthians 11:23-30
5. Praying - on the first day of the week - Acts 2:42

Wear the name of Christ and opposes all names of man's invention.

* Acts 11:26 & 26:28; I Peter 4:16 called Christians.
* All to wear the same name as the Bible speaks, Acts 4:12; Philippians 3:16
* I Corinthians 1:10-13; 3:3-4; 4:6 condemns wearing human names.

The Apostolic teachings in the New Testament set forth the structure
for the Church under Christ as the head, with Elders and Deacons
to serve in the local congregation.

* Acts 20:28 Elders to oversee the church. Acts 14:23 Ordained Elders in every church.
Philippians 1:1; I Timothy 3:1-13 Elders/Bishops and Deacons.
* The Lord's church is not run by a majority rule or by popes, councils, conferences, synods, etc., but as its only head, Christ, dictates through His word.

The Gospel as revealed and confirmed by the Holy Spirit is able
to convert sinners and bring them to salvation.

* Romans 1:16 The gospel is the power of God unto salvation.
* I Corinthians 15:2 We are saved by the gospel.
* James 1:18 We are begotten by the Word of Truth.
* Romans 10:17 Faith comes by hearing the Word of God.
* John 17:17 We are sanctified through the truth.

The Bible teaches sinners how through faith to obtain God's merciful salvation.

* Hear the gospel and believe, Romans 10:17; Acts 16:31.
* They must repent Acts 3:19 & 17:30-31.
* They must confess Christ with the mouth, Romans 10:9-10; Acts 8:37
* They must be baptized for the remission of sins, Acts 2:38 & 22:16; Mark 16:16; 1 Peter 3:20-21.

The Bible teaches Christians to remain faithful to Christ,
the head of the Church, lest they fall and be lost.

* John 15:1-8 Unfruitful branches are to be cast into fire and burned.
* Hebrews 6:4-8 It is possible to "fall away".
* Be faithful, Revelation 2:10

My fiancee went to a college that I believe was of the Church of Christ.

He said they couldn't have music in church or play instruments cause it was "sinful" yet they'd embrace and advertise events when Christian bands and singers would come

They also weren't too nice and I think expelled someone for cutting herself.

He and his friend (who went there briefly) ahve said its cultlike But, it could just be that school and not everywhere else.

The UCC has been extremely liberal and "affirming" for decades. The have ordained practicing homosexuals since the 1970's. They have many close ties with the society of Friends who share their commonality of "affirmation".

My Aunt was UCC until she moved to be closer to the family in AR. When I visited I was invited to preach from their pulpit. I preached Christ Crucified and the only Doorway to Glory. The congregation was made-up of hi-brow intellectuals, and academic social activists.

Christian? I blogged about this ealier today. I don't see how they can call themselves a "Christian" church or the "Church of Christ" by backing homosexual marriage. Talk about false teaching! According to their web site, this "synod" is not a governing body, therefore individual churches do not have to support this decision. Will there be division now? Will churches leave the UCC? Guess we'll have to wait and see.

This is very sad. They know it is so against God's word. They shouldn't even call themselves a church at all because it no longer is when they have condoned and are condoning same sex marriages.
