Related to this subject:

I know that he was LAID in a manger after birth. And I know that my Bible defines a manger as a feeding trough for barn animals. I think a common misconception (as it used to be for me) is that a manger is an actual barn-like structure.

I guess there are still debates about where the actualy birth may have taken place though. Which book of the Apocrypha states that Jesus was born in a cave?

I was watching Jay Sekulow (ACLJ) and he showed a news clip of a case. I think it was about a little girl who brought to class a pop-up book of the Nativity--the assignment was to share a family tradition. The school had to be taken to court before things were overturned. Anyway, the principal of the school--or maybe the superintendent--was quoted as saying:

"Who cares if Jesus was born in a manger?"

After pondering this question, here's why I think it matters...

Christmas is about giving. Families gather on Christmas morning to exchange gifts. Now God so loved the world, he gave us the greatest gift of all--LIFE. This gift of life came to us as a precious baby, and this child grew into a man who was crucified for the redemption of our sins. We can either accept His gift of life, or reject it and die in our sins.
