When Images Speak
by Michael G. Mickey

(6-6-06)

quote:
Revelation 13:15: And he [The False Prophet] had power to give life unto the image of the beast [The Antichrist], that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
In the Scripture above we're told that the False Prophet of the Antichrist, during the seven-year Tribulation Period which will take place after the Rapture of the Church, is going to have the power to bring an image of the Antichrist to life, to the extent it will both be able to speak and cause all who will not worship it to be killed. It's difficult to imagine how this is going to take place, isn't it? Or is it?

Little by little, the prophetic scenario foretold in the book of Revelation is becoming easier to envision taking place due to specific scientific advancements being made in the world around us. As I'm about to demonstrate, for example, we have now reached a period in human history when images can be given voices and speak, as seen in a Reuters story!

In the Reuters story in question, we read the following, in part:

The Mona Lisa's smile may always remain a mystery, but it is now possible to hear what her voice would have sounded like, thanks to a Japanese acoustics expert.

Dr Matsumi Suzuki, who generally uses his skills to help with criminal investigations, measured the face and hands of Leonardo da Vinci's famous 16th century portrait to estimate her height at 168 cm and create a model of her skull.

"Once we have that, we can create a voice very similar to that of the person concerned," Suzuki told Reuters in an interview at his Tokyo office last week. "We have recreated the voices of a lot of famous people that were very close to the real thing and have been used in film dubbing."

To hear an image of Mona Lisa speak as we are led to believe her actual voice would've sounded, go to the following website and click the arrow below her image on the page: http://promotion.msn.co.jp/davinci/voice.htm .

While many people believe the events described in the book of Revelation will be fulfilled in the distant future if at all, I am of the opinion that fulfillment of the Bible's prophecies which yet remain to be fulfilled may be far closer to coming about than many who knowingly choose to continue living their lives outside the will of Almighty God hope is true. Truly, Christ's return for His Church is drawing nigh!

After reading the news story above, hearing Mona Lisa's "image" speak, and reading the Scripture this commentary opened with, I'd give some serious thought to forming a relationship with Jesus Christ if I didn't have one prior to reading and hearing what is contained within this commentary. How could one not?

When images start speaking, I believe it's safe to assume, based on logic and reason alone, we're moving toward a future fulfillment of Revelation 13:15, which means the return of Jesus Christ may well be right around the prophetic corner. This raises a very important question: If Jesus Christ should come for His Church today, would He be coming for YOU?

If you haven't accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you badly need to visit my site's salvation page to learn more about how you can! You need Jesus in your life and He stands ready to forgive you of all your sins, no matter what they may be or how many of them there have been, if only you will reach out to Him, repent of your sins, and place your faith in Him and Him alone to obtain your salvation! Why don't you settle the matter of your eternal security today? Tomorrow may be too late!

We've had "speaking images" around nearly the last 100 years. Cartoons come to mind. I'm thinking/guessing the image referenced in the Scriptures might be a talking statue without mechnical aid or it might just be something on TV (For John to see an image on TV would be really something to behold, but to us, it's no big deal since we have one in every home and we've been used to seeing them everywhere for over 40 years.

First thing I thought of when I was listening to the Mona Lisa "dialog". It's all assumption how she would have sounded. Most people would guess that General George S. Patton would have a rough and grumbly voice. Actually, it was squeeky and whimpy sounding. He was no means a whimp, but to hear him actually talk, you'd think so. But I'm betting they would assume Patton had a deep and gruff voice--that is, if it had never been recorded previously.
