Sheriff's Department Personnel to Get Smallpox Vaccines Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary planned to be at the front of the line when smallpox vaccinations were given to his officers. The shots were to be administered on Tuesday. The program to inoculate all 3,000 members of the department and their families is voluntary, but leaders hope everyone will take advantage of it. Later this week, President Bush will unveil a plan to inoculate emergency workers across the country. Orange County's Sheriffs personnel will be the first in the nation to participate in the program. Next will come a half-million medical personnel, expected to be injected with the smallpox vaccine by early next year.
This was in my local news, seems they are starting in Florida....
