These are my thoughts, please share yours.
39 This is probably the Mede Persian Empire. Together they could defeat Babylon but soon they started to separate and Greeks would take over them. Alexander the great defeated most of the known world at that time. The third empire here is the Greeks. Bronze is an alloy which mixes copper and tin. Showing that this empire was strong but it also had it weaknesses. The strength being the cooper and the weaknesses being the tin. The empire never was the same after Alexander’s death. The Persians allowed Israel to back to their land and rebuild the temple and the walls and because of their getting along many stayed in Persia which is what the book of Esther are those that stayed in Persia. The Greeks did not have this favor over Israel in fact they sacrificed a pig which is an unclean animal in the temple in the holiest of holies which the high priest is only suppose to go in on the day of atonement. This cause an uprising which freed Israel from bondage for a time.
