Hi Eden,
Thanks for the concordance info. I would like to remind you that I did use the word "similar" meaning, not "identical"........when referring to the use of the word "destroy" in the two separate verses. I thought I might add that there are at least 17+ more reference numbers to Hebrew and greek dictionaries just for the word "destroy".

I contend that there is not 20+ very distinct and uniquely different meanings to the word "destroy"...........but that the word "destroy" can have slight variations in meaning depending on the overall intended meaning of what exactly is being said in a particular verse.

The emphasis on my post was not intended to be on the exact meaning of the word destroy from each passage as much as it was on trying to explain why I do not believe that Christians are to be considered as partakers with those who "destroy the earth", in the sense of what I believe the revelation of Jesus intends "destroy the earth" to mean.........that being ......not the destruction of the earth in a physical sense, but a destruction of the earth in a more spiritual sense. I thought you would have expressed agreement considering the fact that the preceding passages show us that "saints" are not among those who are destroyed by Jesus........so we cannot then all be considered "destroyers" in the spiritual sense, right?

With love in Christ, Daniel

Hi Eden,
I think that the use of the word "destroy" in the context of Revelation 11 is similar to the use of the word "destroy" in the context of Jesus' words in John 10:10....."The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to DESTROY.

While we all sure have done our part in destroying the earth....... in the sense of being good to "mother nature" (for ex: everytime we drive our car, cut down a tree, litter........ I think you get the picture.

BUT

Christ followers are not to be marked/known by the "spirit of destruction" in the sense of being ruled by a "selfish ambition that will go to all measures to get what it wants"

With love in Christ, Daniel

Revelation 11:18
And the nations were angry and Your wrath is come and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that You should give reward to Your servants the prophets and to the saints and to them who fear Your name, small and great; and that You should destroy them who destroy the earth.

Aren't we all destroying the earth in some way?

love, Eden
