Luk 14:26 "If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple."

We had this discussion on this board. I may have to revisit it. But there was this question of what it means to be HIS disciple. Well, the definition of disciple was determined to mean "One who learns of Him," to which some responded that they are learning of Him, by whatever means they listed. But this just in from our FWIW department (for what it is worth)!!! One may determine based on whatever abstract reason they come up with, that they are 'learning of Him'. But the above verse sets forth 'conditions'. Yes, there are conditions. I believe in 'done'. I believe in 'having', but even these are according to condition. And the condition is as stated above. So that, in actuality, what the verse is saying, is that though you think you are, you are not 'really' learning of Him, until you have met the condition, no matter if you are getting overwhelming 'head' knowledge, of scripture.

This is important! Because it is after all about knowing Him. But He is telling you that what you are learning, in your 'well meaning', isn't really profiting you. That is the meaning contained in the verse.

In short, if you would not learn in vain, meet the condition!
