I love the way The Living Bible reads on these verses:  

John 5:41-42

“Your approval or disapproval means nothing to me, for as I know so well, you don’t have God’s love within you. I know, because I have come to you representing my Father and you refuse to welcome me, though you readily enough receive those who aren’t sent from him, but represent only themselves! No wonder you can’t believe! For you gladly honor each other, but you don’t care about the honor that comes from the only God!

Just sounds so much like a lots of what is going on in most Churches. They honor each other and represent only themselves. When Jesus Christ is to be the only reason we gather and not for our own glory.

Praise you Lord Jesus Christ for you alone are to receive the glory and honor! \o/

I love the way that translation reads also. I read it in my NIV, and yours explains whats meant very clearly.
