Behind every good man there's a good woman, Carol.
A woman may not have helped pen the bible, but you can be fore certain a woman helped with the creation of the bible
God Bless.

I fudged that up.
I ment to say that our ability to withstand the temptation becomes stronger and stronger...
Leave it to me to mess something up like that -- thank God that I didn't have a hand in writing the bible, LOL.

Found in Him I love doing things for the Lord. He makes even the simple and routine tasks a peaceful and joyous experience. Beautiful song.
MentorsRiddle Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. Some of the things I used to like have become repulsive to me, so I know I'm being changed by the Holy Spirit. The filling...does not mean the believer gets more of the Holy Spirit, but rather the Holy Spirit gets more of the believer.

I have a question about something you wrote:
quote: or should I say our ability to withstand the temptation becomes smaller and smaller.
I don't understand what you mean.

Carol Swenson wrote quote: There must be in the believer’s life that final and complete surrender of the body to Jesus Christ. This does not mean there will be no further steps of surrender, because there will be. The longer we walk with Christ, the deeper the fellowship must become. But there can be no subsequent steps without that first step.
Regarding the parts that I bolded, in the top sentence you said it was a final and complete surrender, and in the last sentence you said it was a first step.
In my experience of Christianity everything has been gradual--no total and final surrender of the body as a first step, but a gradual surrender of different parts of me.
The Bible talks about us being careful what we let our eyes see and what we let our ears hear, and gradually, as the Holy Spirit works with us, we may come to the decision to "only read Christian books from now on" or to "no longer watch violent and cursing movies", and so on.
Over time, the things that I used to like when I was still in Satan's kingdom eventually seemed empty and shallow to me, compared to the Living God and compared to the Son of the Living God and compared to the Bible and Christian things.
So Carol Swenson wrote quote: There must be in the believer’s life that final and complete surrender of the body to Jesus Christ. This does not mean there will be no further steps of surrender, because there will be. The longer we walk with Christ, the deeper the fellowship must become. But there can be no subsequent steps without that first step.
Complete and final surrender of the body is NOT a first step but a last step; when all the parts of the body have been "sanctified", meaning, "set apart unto God", then the Christian has made that final and complete surrender of his body; but it is NOT a first step but rather a last step.

Carol, what a beautiful and heart-felt post.
When desire for sin tuggs at our corrupt hearts, it is funny how much we desire it -- if not indeed yearn for it; to sin.
We allow ourselves, during these times, to let our sinfull nature take hold and make us servents and tools of evil.
It is amazing, however, once we become a part of God's extended family how a wonderful transformation begins to take place -- the transformation of our very nature, from the sin-nature to the God-Nature.
Then, depending on how much we allow God into our hearts -- thus determining how much of our nature has changed -- we can become stronger servents of God.
Once our nature begins to change our desires for sin become gradually smaller and smaller -- or should I say our ability to withstand the temptation becomes smaller and smaller.
Once we allow God further into our hearts, instead of desiring to sin, we desire to do good -- which is loving works.
Sin becomming secondary nature instead of primary nature like before.
Such a wonderful post.
God-Bless and thanks for sharing.

An amazing thing that I have found in our precious Lord Jesus...when we come into His presence and meet with Him, we are changed. We are changed from glory to glory...we gladly yield and surrender when we taste of The Holy living God-- nothing else will suffice other than Him after tasting His amazing presence ...
Psalms 42 1 As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, O God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When can I go and meet with God?
He is waiting there always... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a57JHeYJzG8
-------------------- ~To Him That is able to keep you from falling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy...to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.~ Jude 24

AN INSTRUMENT TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT
Romans 6:12 - 13 (NLT) 12 Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. 13 Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.
This is an act of the will based on the knowledge we have of what Christ has done for us. It is an intelligent act—not the impulsive decision of the moment based on some emotional stirring. It is important to notice the tenses of the verbs in these verses. A literal translation is: “Do not constantly allow sin to reign in your mortal body so that you are constantly obeying its lusts. Neither constantly yield your members of your body as weapons [or tools] of unrighteousness to sin; but once and for all yield yourselves to God.” That once-and-for-all surrender is described in Romans 12:1.
There must be in the believer’s life that final and complete surrender of the body to Jesus Christ. This does not mean there will be no further steps of surrender, because there will be. The longer we walk with Christ, the deeper the fellowship must become. But there can be no subsequent steps without that first step. The tense of the verb in Romans 12:1 corresponds with that in Romans 6:13—a once-and-for-all yielding to the Lord. To be sure, we daily surrender afresh to Him; but even that is based on a final and complete surrender.
Why does the Lord want your body? To begin with, the believer’s body is God’s temple, and He wants to use it for His glory (1 Cor. 6:19-20; Phil. 1:20-21). But Paul wrote that the body is also God’s tool and God’s weapon (Rom. 6:13). God wants to use the members of the body as tools for building His kingdom and weapons for fighting His enemies.
The Bible tells of people who permitted God to take and use their bodies for the fulfilling of His purposes. God used the rod in Moses’ hand and conquered Egypt. He used the sling in David’s hand to defeat the Philistines. He used the mouths and tongues of the prophets. Paul’s dedicated feet carried him from city to city as he proclaimed the Gospel. The Apostle John’s eyes saw visions of the future, his ears heard God’s message, and his fingers wrote it all down in a book that we can read.
