In a regular (non-Internet) church, usually the pastor and the junior pastors are considered "bible college prepared and ready to teach the Word". But in an Internet church, "whosoever will" can come to the computer and "add his or her piece" to the Topic.

And I kind of like it that anyone can come to the computer, ready or not. Sure, if not entirely ready, he or she may teach some things which are Biblically wrong, but that's also the beauty of the Internet church, if that we can all learn faster and we can also learn something from everyone here, no matter what their "knowledge" is.

If he or she is a Christian, "there is hope that something of the Holy Spirit" also comes out.

So, regarding Quarrels, on an Internet church there are more likely to be quarrels because "more than the pastor and junior pastors" are talking, but on the other hand, it makes for a great learning environment.

Indeed, I pray that more people will dare to post Topics and answer posts. What if all the pew sitters went up to their computers, what then?

Very good post! The good thing about Internet church is that everyone can discuss what they are being taught at their church. This is good because like you said the Pastor and the junior pastors are the only ones that usually preach to the pew sitters. Just because they can do this don't mean they are teaching the right thing. It is good to bring things to light by comparing it to the entire bible in context.

I pray that some of the people in the modern day institutionalized religious machine will wake up and come to know the truth. Yes Jesus is the truth.

Again good post!

Have a wonderful day!

David

I think the good thing about being in your late 50's is you realize that somethings are not worth fighting about. I am not talking about spiritual matters but things that often cause arguments in Church like the color of the pews or the carpet.
Our Church years ago picked out the carpet the best way. The board members picked out about a dozen colors. We brought the 12 samples and put them on the altar. Every person who entered the Church on Sunday morning were given a tack. After Church everyone was told to put the tack in the color they liked. The one with the most tack one. There were no hurt feelings.
The color I picked did not win, but it was no big deal.

Hi Betty,

Yes, you're right. [hug]

But, you know, I think there are some people who quarrel all the time.

Amen to that, Betty Louise. A good night's uninterrupted sleep makes a lot of difference too in our day's disposition.

Sometimes,it is just plain lack of rest. I have been involved in situations at Church where you have a group who have worked long hours putting together a program. It is not uncommon for a few spats to occur. Of course the best cure is to stop and remind ourselves that we are working for God and then pray. Pray for God to give us peace and physical rest.
Yes a quarrelsome attitude is a sin issue, but there are times, that quarrels is not about sin but lack of psychical and emotional rest.

QUARRELS (Arguments, Controversies, Fighting)

What causes people to quarrel?

BIBLE READING: Proverbs 13:1-25

KEY BIBLE VERSE: Pride leads to arguments; be humble, take advice, and become wise. (Proverbs 13:10, TLB)

Pride leads to quarrels. “I was wrong” or “I need advice” are difficult phrases to utter because they require humility. Pride is an ingredient in every quarrel. It stirs up conflict and divides people. Humility, in contrast, heals. Guard against pride. If you find yourself constantly arguing, examine your life for pride. Be open to the advice of others, ask for help when you need it, and be willing to admit your mistakes.

BIBLE READING: Titus 3:1-11

KEY BIBLE VERSE: Don’t get involved in arguing over unanswerable questions and controversial theological ideas; keep out of arguments and quarrels about obedience to Jewish laws, for this kind of thing isn’t worthwhile; it only does harm. (Titus 3:9, TLB)

Unprofitable discussion leads to quarrels. Paul warned Titus, as he warned Timothy, not to get involved in foolish and unprofitable arguments (2 Timothy 2:14). This does not mean we should refuse to study, discuss, and examine different interpretations of difficult Bible passages. Paul is warning against petty quarrels, not honest discussion that leads to wisdom. As foolish arguments develop, it is best to turn the discussion back to a helpful direction or politely excuse yourself.

Divisiveness leads to quarrels. A person must be warned when he or she is causing division that threatens the unity of the church. This warning should not be a heavy-handed action, but it is intended to correct the individual’s divisive nature and restore him or her to fellowship. A person who refuses to be corrected should be put outside the fellowship. As Paul said, that person is sinning—and knows it. (See also Matthew 18:15-18 and 2 Thessalonians 3:14-15 for help in handling such problems in the church.)

BIBLE READING: James 4:1-12

KEY BIBLE VERSE: What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Isn’t it because there is a whole army of evil desires within you? (James 4:1, TLB)

Sinful desires lead to quarrels. Conflicts and disputes among believers are always harmful. James explains that these quarrels result from evil desires battling within us—we want more possessions, more money, higher status, more recognition. When we want badly enough to fulfill these desires, we fight in order to do so. Instead of aggressively grabbing what we want, we should submit ourself to God, ask God to help us get rid of our selfish desires, and trust him to give us what we really need.
