Oswald is wonderful.
I've read through "My Utmost for His Highest" and journaled. At times, when I study, I review the journal.

I think this site posts the devotionals http://www.rbc.org/utmost/index.php .

Enjoy.

As for burdens...how true. I remember being distraught over a particular issue in the church I once attended. When I shared the burden with a brother and friend I did not expect it to be received so lightly. I felt a bit out of sorts and wondered if I was taking things "too seriously". I asked the Lord "what is this?". He responded "My heart". After that I could freely feel the burden with a clear conscience.
Now, I'm not one to trust feelings (they are often poor reflections of truth) but it was delightful to realize that the Lord even attended how I feel.

Sincerely,
Aaron

I liked this because some people will come to me and tell me God may want me to do something and tell me what they think he told them.

I tell them that God is not bashful and He has never had a problem telling me what He wants me to do. So what they are wanting me to do is most likely something God wants them to do.

A lot of people think God always uses someone else, but He is really wanting all born-again believers to be active in their faith and not think someone else is going to do it.

There is a great need for all believer to do what God tells them, as that is what makes us grow in Christ. I just think the institutionalized Church sets people up to think someone else is suppost to do it because of the paid clergy.

We all should be getting our directions from God and not man.

This is a very interesting topic David.. Do you have any personal comments on it?

There are two points here that I think are key.. burden is favor and that GOD is always moving to get us to see HIM.. what HE is doing.. That HE is GOD..

Recently, I was talking to someone about feeling distressed about some things in the world.. and I had been feeling guilty for feeling this way and a woman said to me.. what you are feeling is "burden"

That was so profound! I am sure it was from God's mouth to my ears because it changed everything. Even realizing that Burden is favor... is not about our being favored, but about the majesty and wonder of a HOLY God that is omnipotent and yet HE chooses to share HIS burden with a lowly man. How incredibly awesome is our God!

It is not about us, but about HIM... He is ever amnifesting for us HIS majesty... even in the laying upon us burden!

Good stuff! I like this Oswald Chambers. I have not read him before except your posting his work. He is incedibly insightful.

(Jeremiah 23:9-15)

“Mine heart within me is broken. . . .” This is not the despondent crushing on account of sin alluded to in Psalm 51, but a profound inward emotion that staggered the prophet until he became like a drunken man because of God’s wrath at the lives of the people. That is the way God works. He takes one or two and makes them understand the condition of things around them, and they have no comrades. When God is bringing a new manifestation of Himself into the world, He burdens someone, and the burden is not a pious affectation. When God begins to favour you with a burden, never try to find out whether anyone else has the same burden. We have our own little difficulties and suffering, but who among us can God take up into the distress of the Holy Ghost when He is bringing in a new manifestation of His purposes? The characteristic of a saint is not—“There are great dangers and perils, I wonder God does not rouse up His people.” He won’t; He will rouse you. Don’t confer with others (Galatians 1:16). It is a great peril to see things, because the pressure of the pain is the beginning of being made broken bread and poured-out wine. Nothing is more abhorrent to God and man than an affected burden. The child of God is a child, and a child’s griefs and joys are tremendous, but you can always tell when grief is affected because it fixes our minds on the person instead of rousing us up to realise what God is doing through that person.
